I'll be a box score stat monger for the next several weeks. But, in November and December, my opinions will be first hand. :D

That'll only be true if you actually "played the game."

Oh, I played the game. Not sure if you were around, but me and some bodies from the 'hood hit the sandlot for some sloppy tackle football one Tuesday afternoon after the snow all melted.

Roy Williams keeps digging deeper.

When Albom asked Williams why he celebrated a reception with his team already trailing by two scores, Williams responded, "I celebrate first downs all the time. I'm not gonna stop that. I'm an exciting player. If I do something exciting, I'm gonna show my actions."

Albom responded, "But you were losing, 10-0."

"What does that mean? ... That means nothing to me. The score means nothing," Williams told Albom.

I wasn't able to watch the game. How did Detroit rack up all the yardage? Was it meaningless late game yardage or were they moving the ball well outside of 3rd down situations?

New gameplan against Bears defense on 3rd down- PUNT!

They actually moved the ball well at times, but then the Bears would come up with a big play or a turnover. And it was completely clear the Bears were beating the Lions in the individual matchups, which lead to just a slew of Lions penalties.

The Lions had a couple decent runs, and seemed to connect on quite a few 10-15 yard pass plays. But with the score the way it was so early, they were bound to give up yardage eventually.

Rivera also said that they played more conservatively once they had the big lead...

The Bears, who have allowed just seven points this season, were able to play more conservatively after leading 24-0 at the half. Two other Lions, Kevin Jones and Mike Furrey, also had six receptions apiece.

"When you have the lead like that, catching the ball in front of you is not going to kill you," Rivera said.

"And it kind of worked in our favor because it ground the clock out a little bit too. We were a little concerned because there were plays that we should generally stop. But we kept it in front of us."

...which brings up the Tillman play. Not that I'm complaining, but generally speaking Till would get his head around on that play and stop the pass. He had good position.

I wonder what kind of ribbing, if any, he's getting for that. It did basically blow our shot at a double shutout----and I do know the defense keeps track of that stuff among themselves.

Roy also tried to backtrack on his prediction, saying something to the effect of "I was 100% right, if we execute in all facets, we will win."

So he's all wet. I liked how Tank called him out after the game. Got to wonder if anyone in the Lions locker room had anything to say to him.

Williams went on

Afterward, Williams said he didn't regret making the guarantee.

"No, because everyone believes what I said," he told Albom.

Williams caught six passes for 71 yards in the loss -- and he issued another guarantee afterward.

"You can all run with this: We will win the [next] game," he told reporters. "I don't care who it's against. We will win the game as long as we do what we're supposed to do. That's my comment for the whole week."

Much easier to say that this week for Williams. They get the Packers in Detroit on Sunday.

I don't say this often, but Go Packers!

As long as the pass defense shows up, we should win. That and if the offensive line learns how to run block.

News Flash:

All 32 NFL teams did what they were supposed to do this week and NO ONE lost.

:D

what?

As Roy Williams says, when teams do what they're supposed to do, they will, of course, win.
