Calling Minor League Experts...Part Whatever.

IF Reid Brignac

SP Andy Sonnanstine

Reid is already a fan favorite here in Central Alabama. Evan continues to be mess with because of his name. Evan has had trouble putting the ball in play since being call up to AA, but he has shown some outstanding power. Jeremy Owens is a decent OFer. Jeff Neiman (Newman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) or whoever you spell his last name is prolly the best overall prospect on the team. No disrespect to Longoria and Brignac.

No, in terms of overall prospect, Longoria should be rated higher (especially given Neimann's injury past).

Thanks guys. I got to see Sonnanstine pitch, though he took a 2-1 loss.

I also got signed balls by Longoria, Nieman, and Brignac. Also, pitching coach Xavier Hernandez signed a card for me.

I also took home a Tim Hudson signed jersey that I purchased during the silent auction for an incredibly low price.

Sonnastine is very similar to Jamie Shields that the Devil Rays having pitching in the major leagues. Nieman if healthy is a good debate vs Brignac and possibly Longoria but the real underdog on the club is Elliott Johnson (not the best prospect) who seems to get better every yr and is only 22 yrs old on a 165 lbs frame and has hit 15 hrs and 285 with 43 stolen bases both in 04/05 and little curious how he's only 20 for 38 this yr but he's better than that.

Doesn't Reid's auto look kinda great? I love how he does the Reid part, looks like a body part. :P

Question for our Cubs minor league Brain Trust:

Is Scott Moore really good enough to replace Ramirez? I'm scared to death of the fact that Ramirez is probably gonna walk. Without him, uh, well, the offense is even worse. Could Moore really replace him in the next few years?

I'd place the odds of Moore becoming a player of Ramirez's caliber slightly above the odds of President Bush being re-elected. That doesn't mean he can't become a decent offensive 3B though.

what about giving fox a try at 3b? he seems to have the body & the bat for it and his defense behind the plate leaves much to be desired. with robinson at daytona being a very good defensive catcher, maybe it's time for fox to change postions.

He's being tried at the corner OFs and 1B, but not at 3B. I think that tells you what the Cubs think about his ability at 3B.

I'd like to see him at C some more, because I don't know if his bat will be good enough for the corner OFs and definitely not at 1B.

I still believe Neiman (sp?) is a better prospect(we'll agree to disagree), but because Longoria is a position player, he'll have more impact. I believe you'll see Neiman in the elite pitching prospects before you see Longoria in the elite hitting prospect.

Nonetheless, regrettably, the DRays have a brighter future then the Cubs. :(

The Rays have a brighter future through the minors than anyone. I'll still take Neimann over Longoria, though I know I'll be in the minority with that one. Neimann's got the big fastball and the big slider. He also gets a huge downward plane on his FB.

I'm just nervous of pitchers with injury problems. His ceiling is certainly higher than that of Longoria.

Yeah but, Dusty doesn't even get a chance to ruin him.
