I think Neifi also said, "When you have a second baseman with a .280 OBP it's tough to win"

As the Tigers are about to find out.

Watch him pull a Maddux on us not grounf out to the 2B every at bat

Well yesterday wasn't a great start. 0-4, first 2 outs were made on the first pitch, in all he swung at every first pitch and his last AB he grounded into a double play.

This is exactly what is to be expected from Neifi. I'm just glad that fool is gone.

Also, I can't believe no one mentioned his admission that he corked his bat! :)

If I were a journeyman player at the tail end of my career I would hollow out my bat and fill it with steroids. Getting caught would be an awesomely cool way to end an otherwise lackluster career.

That would make him a first ballot HOFer, right Colin?.

If there were an HOF for cheaters, then yes. Putting steroids in a bat would be far cooler than anything any other cheater has done.

How long will that nonsense last with Leyland? Man don't the Tigers have a minor leaguer who knows how to work the count who could have come up instead? If the Tigers get a ring this year there is no way Neifi should get one. It's kind of like the PH/3B that was on the Cubs in the 03 season who got traded to the Marlins. Man what was his name?

The Tigers are not a patient team. Neifi's over aggressive approach won't stand-out up there. His lack of talent will. But that team's fortunes will ride on the arms.

Look how fast Shelton got send down to the minors.

I'll give Neifi 2 weeks in Detroit.

I think you mean

Lenny Neifcias

If we didn't have Macias and Neifi on the same team for one year, on the field TOGETHER for several games, I'd have sworn all three guys were actually the same player under different aliases.

Short, round, unshaven, with weird swings, totally worthless at the plate... something's fishy here.

Who do we think Hendry will find to fill the Lenny Neifcias role next year? Bynum doesn't LOOK the part, but his stat sheet sure does.

"Like the other day (Aug. 15) we were facing Roger Clemens with [Juan] Mateo from Double A. [Mateo] pitched great that day. I don't take anything away from him, but the respect wasn't the same.

I don't understand. Neifi doesn't respect rookies?

They take his job away and that scares him. Besides, you can't win if you don't respect the pitcher on the mound for you, didn't you know that?

"When you go with three rookies [in the rotation], it's tough," Perez said in the Tigers' clubhouse after arriving Monday from Chicago. I guess Neifi didn't think too much of Mateo when he plunked ol' respected Roger?

Maybe he means respect from the umpires? I know Clemens got quite a few 'veteran's calls' in that game.

Like not being booted from the game.

I swear Neifi is just bitter cuz when he was younger, he basically pissed his entire career away and now has to sink everyone else down to his level

I hope the sniveling little rat is bitter.

At least they'll bat him in the 8th slot and not the top of the order.

I just have to bump this...

Yeah, I saw that last night. Took me all of one game to blow that call!

Leyland has had some crazy lineups this year (Vance Wilson 3rd, just so Pudge could pinch hit for him in that spot later in the game if needed, Pudge leading off against Boston, etc.).

I still think by and large Neifi will bat toward the bottom of the lineup.
