I think it's in the US's best interest for Mexico to miss the World Cup and cripple their chances individually for a long while, then use that as motivation to push the US at the top of CONCACAF like they used to.

 

If this were the new Mexico forever and ever it'd be bad news, but it's not so we can enjoy the schadenfreude and the leg up this will give us in future competitions of importance.
