I don't speak Dutch, but I can read these:

Ajax hebben Portsmouth, Parma, Palermo en Fenerbahçe belangstelling voor de rechtsbenige verdediger.

Voetbal International is considered as reliable in these parts. It basically confirms Ajax's interest, gives a recap of Gooch's career so far and lists the other teams interested.

Given permission by CONCACAF to supplement its Gold Cup roster, the USA national team has added forwards Jozy Altidore and Conor Casey, midfielders Ricardo Clark, Benny Feilhaber and Sacha Kljestan, defender Jonathan Bornstein and goalkeeper Brad Guzan. However, according to the USSF, not all seven will be present for each Gold Cup match. The schedule for each player will be announced in the days leading to the matches. Of the pool of 30 players, only 18 will be in uniform.

"At times during the tournament, we may integrate these seven players with our core roster," Coach Bob Bradley said.

Hopefully Kenny Cooper is good enough to play for the Gold Cup team.

-WTF, Clint is being linked with a move to Everton. I don't know how to feel about that. Actually...I do know how I feel about it, and I don't like it. Fulham is perfect for him-he starts all the time, he's gonna be in Europe, the coach likes him, the fans love him. I wouldnt want him at a bigger club simply for the sake of the name and then having him ride pine.

-WTFx2 @ Ribery wanting a move to Real. I want that team to suck so badly next year.

si's grant wahl's new beckham book has been getting covered in the mainstream sports media. landon donovan goes after beckham pretty strong with some quotes in the book. calls him a bad teammate and beckham is cheap with picking up the tab with his teammates. its sort of melodramatic but it was an interesting behind the scene excerpt about what's happened at the galaxy.

si.com has an excerpt up on the front page.

You better believe I already pre-ordered the Wahl joint.

I want Clint to stay as well, but if it's the pay raise they say it is, go with god, my son. I have faith he'll fight for a spot.

Lots of good juice in this one at no short corners: http://www.noshortcorners.com/2009/07/okay-okay-youve-been-patient.html

Landon makes Goldenballs look like a complete prick in that excerpt.

Gotta say I like it.

The agent for Villarreal strike prodigy Josmer Altidore says his client could remain with the Yellow Submarines this season or he could head out on loan to any of a number of exciting European destinations, with the deciding factor being the best assurance of quality playing time.

The U.S. National Team regular was limited to just La Liga six outings over the first half of last season, and then went without an appearance during a winter-to-summer loan spell with second flight champs Xerez.

"I talk with Villarreal everyday," Lyle Yorks told Soccer365. "It's an ongoing thing. There's loads of interest in taking Jozy on loan."

"There are many La Liga teams ready to take him, as well as teams in the Premiership and the Bundesliga, and Olympiakos in Greece. We've talked to Dutch clubs, but none of those talks have become serious."

After showing fairly well at Confederations Cup though fresh off a minor surgery recovery, Altidore admitted to being a bit disappointed with his tourney performance and adamant on having regular pitch time during this upcoming pre-World Cup club campaign.

"We are looking at all the options, doing our due diligence to ensure he's in a situation where he can play," stated Yorks. "We are talking to sporting directors and coaches to figure out which situation is best for him."

Altidore has been added to the USMNT's expanded CONCACAF Gold Cup roster, though it is unclear for how many or which matches he will be available.

I got The History of Football: The Beautiful Game in the mail today. Couldn't recommend it higher. It's fascinating.

Is this the book you're talking about?

DVD Documentary. It's awesome, other than the opening part which features Hugo Sanchez talking about whoever founded football should be remembered with names like DaVinci, Marconi and Michaelangelo. Of course he didn't know Marconi's name. He just said, "The guy who invented the radio."

Its one of those things I have been meaning to buy for a long time. Isn't it like 10 dvd's or something?

I have been looking to get those dvd's for a while now. As far as books I am about 400 pages into The Ball is Round: A Global History of Soccer, and am loving it so far.

Holy crap, that thing is almost 1000 pages. Sounds like a pretty in depth history.

WTF Santino Quaranta is only 24? I forgot he was even in the player pool, but good for him.

I hope Bradley sticks with the 4-4-2 and uses this to develop depth and doesn't go all 4-3-2-1 and plugs random players everywhere.

Wish Adu had hammered that one home instead of playing it somewhat soft, but a nice goal for the US.

Doesn't look like it's going to be a terribly challenging match for this squad.

I don't think it would be for the u-17 team. Adu looks to have added a little bit of mass to him, I like it. Beckerman has longer dreds than anyone on the Grenda squad.

Why isn't this match 10-0 yet?

Or 15-0.

And did Perkins go home at the half? He may have set up a hammock in goal and we'd have no way of knowing.

This match is completely meaningless for analysis.

That said, I think I rate Holden and Rogers above Adu at this point.

One of Holden and Rogers will be the Dempsey of 2010. I like Holden's pedigree and poise, and Robbie has some jukes.
