Defense optional in this Fire/Red Bulls match, really entertaining stuff. High stakes too. Chicago needs a point for the playoffs and a win to get past the knockout game, New York needs a win to clinch the Supporter's Shield.

http://www.myfootballfacts.com/Premier_League_Penalty_Statistics.html

This is a pretty fun little site. It tracks the PK statistics in the EPL by team back from 02-03 through to this year. You can look at each season as a whole or what each team has done year by year. Average is between 4 and 5 per team per year.

Not too surprising but in that span, 63% of penalties were awarded to the home team. I also thought it was hilarious that Crystal Palace was awarded 12 penalties in 2004-05 (second-place only had 5) and scored 11 of them, and they still managed to get relegated.

-RBNY is just better; the key moment in that game was the ball played behind Anongono instead of leading him in the 8th minute. Klopas is a pretty poor coach as well. You have half a starting lineup of hacks, and then you pull Duka and Nyarko (who I don't like, still, but he's better than Amerikwa) for no reason, and to add a dash of incompetence to it, moved Magee away from goal to the wing. It's no coincidence to me that the instant those two went out, the Fire midfield stopped having any semblance of midfield possession.

They need to replace both CMs and get an actual striker to pair with Magee. Also they need to replace the coach. That team was terrible and was only saved by Arena's stupidity in trading for Rogers.

-Dempsey gets his first last night.

Townsend has something. Tons of energy, confidence and speed, but we'll see if he can survive the crucible of the English football media hype machine.

And if he can learn that he's not Gareth Bale and that he probably should stop shooting as much from 30 yards out.

Klopas, the coaching staff and the entire Fire front office are...well, fired.

Good. He's a hack and his coaching is bad and he should feel bad.

Anyone buy the rumors that Mexico is going to end up DQ'd for using Chaco Gimenez in the Hex?

Not a chance.

Also heard a rumor that Chicharito's yellow vs CR may have not been recorded.

Fire giving the keys to the car to Frank Yallop? Boring, uninspired and tired choice. He's an MLS relic. Not a part of this league's future. Can't believe they'd do that after the success of Kreis, Porter, Heaps and Petke. Should've hired Marsch or Armas. Hell, Tab Ramos.

So they're bringing in the guy responsible for SJ's goon squad? Ugh.
