He ain't. He was in SF, next stop unknown.

The fan who tweeted he was going to Seattle on the same flight followed up saying he went to a different gate.

He's either taking care of some personal stuff, or he's joining a new club touring the US (Everton, Juve, Roma).

All I know is I wouldn't mind him leaving Spurs and also that silly season is awesome. Some random US fan tweets and it melts down the Internet.

In addition to bigger and more appearance bonuses, getting to play in multiple world cups (up to 3) and an easier shot at minutes, there's always that huge, often undeserved MLS contract at the end of your career to consider too.

Not sure about the easier shot at minutes bit, but the rest is spot on.

I'm quite sure the Iceland squad is easier to make than the USMNT, but playing for Iceland you're probably limited to group stage matches for Euro and WC qualifying (with perhaps an outside shot at the occasional Euro tournament). It's much harder to break in to the US squad, but when you can, you are almost sure to make it to the WC (exposure included), thus enhancing your chances to play for (or at least get a contract from) a big club earlier in your career.

In general, I'd agree with you. In his individual case, I think he's probably the second best pure forward in our pool, behind Altidore. With Iceland, he's been behind Finnbogason, Sigthorsson, Sigurdarsen, and they've played Sigurdsson up top at times ahead of him as well. I don't know enough about Iceland's NT to determine whether he should be ahead of any of those guys, but he hasn't been, and that's what mattered to Aron. They called him up earlier this year only after it became apparent that he was on Klinsmann's radar and I'd guess that he had enough of waiting for Iceland to show interest.

Clint to Juventus would be awesome. Would be happy w Everton if the current team stays intact and don't sell anyone off.

Better yet Wenger's plan B after he fails on Suarez yet again.

Okay, ways that this could accidentally not be a disaster:

- Clint will get all the minutes he needs

- If any of the important USMNT pieces could handle switching schedules in this fashion without a drop-off, it'd be Clint

- Further elevation of MLS quality, if ever so slight

- He'll be acclimated to the appropriate time zones for WC14

Okay, that's enough grasping at straws.

I'm torn.

I love Clint.

I like the Sounders.

I love Americans showing ambition in Europe.

I can't begrudge him the move because I'm sure he's getting paid like he wouldn't be in Europe but holy [expletive], this is the craziest move I've ever seen.

What the [expletive]. Guess if any team can really fund Clint its Seattle. Wish he waited one more year. He was the American to really get things going for us in Europe.

Assuming Tottenham sell Bale I really don't understand this. Now they need 3-4 more moves to challenge for a CL spot.

Bet he does a January loan for the WC.

This is the first game changer deal since Beckham. Obviously Seattle is one of three teams capable of it, but with NYCFC coming in and the league expanding to 24 teams, this is just the beginning. Our cute little league isn't going to be cute and little much longer.

A January loan would be about the best case scenario. Make sure he's playing at the highest level right until the WC, after that it's almost best that he's playing in MLS. By the next cycle he won't be the star attraction(if he's even on the roster), so while he's not decrepit he can help to raise the caliber of MLS.

This is...disappointing. One of the coolest things about Clint was the fact that he blew through and over every obstacle and kept on raising his level.

I love MLS, but this is a massive step down in quality, and I'm not looking forward to him playing on that turf, and getting hacked by scrubs like Lenhart with refs like Toledo.

ETA: I wonder what JK thinks about this.

The Cosmos are trying to make a big deal about their return tomorrow, but Deuce holding a scarf before Seattle's game is a big "F YO COUCH" move. MLS flexes nuts on pretenders to the throne.
