"We are very, very sad for him," Klinsmann said. "We are very concerned about Stuey's situation. It looks like a very serious knee injury."

It gets better for Holden.

Just showed on SportsCenter that Bruce Arena was ejected in the 2005 Gold Cup semis, also against Honduras and we went on to beat Panama in the final that year also.

Does anyone have one of the current national team jerseys? I'm wondering how they fit.

Close to the way a standard shirt would fit. It's not a slim fit, but it also doesn't stretch much.

-Mix came in and played really well. Of the Important Things from this GC, him showing up and being an option is right there.

-Shea as a late game sub is totally different than Shea as a starter.

-Ready for LD to get in with the first choice side now.

-Absolutely gutted for Holden; to do your ACL like that after working so hard to come back...that was tough to watch.

@GrantWahl 22-year-old dual-national AZ striker Aron Jóhansson has announced he will play for US instead of Iceland.

We'll see if someone like Aron Johansson or Julian Green join up and can provide depth.

Yeah, the Centennial jersey is right on the money for standard t-shirt sizing in my experience.

Oh, and I forgot my scattershot thoughts on the game.

- Getting to your seat in Soldier Field is just the worst. Great view from some cheap seats though.

- I think Besler may have played the best of any player on the field.

- Goodson showed why he's first choice for games like this and also why he shouldn't really be considered for games of true importance. He also has the agility of a baby giraffe.

- Beasley had a sloppy 2nd half with a lot of bad touches, wonder if all the minutes started adding up on him.

- Beckerman was very solid and a worthy MOTM. You can tell that this is just about his limit by how uncomfortable some of things he does successfully are. He's also a complete non-factor in creating anything.

- Really sad for Holden. Replacing him, I thought Mix had trouble getting involved. Maybe it's because he was paired with backpass Beckerman, and he did do good things when he had the ball to his feet, but I expected more touches.

- I would've wanted Shea to come on for Bodoya instead of Corona. Corona was far more dangerous even though Bodoya had far more action, although having Parkhurst behind you compared to Beasley is definitely a detriment in attack.

- That was probably Landon's worst game of the tournament, but he was still pretty good.

- To continue the animal analogies, we got the puppy version of Eddie Johnson yesterday. Runs after a ball a lot, sloppy in possession, getting in occasional skirmishes. You almost have to try to miss that sitter over the bar.

- Rimando didn't have to do any real shot-stopping, but he was bad in distribution again. Lots of difficult to control passes to defenders.

Johannson's agent is either Magneto or the guy who won all of those strongman competitions.

Dude would probably be very useful in contract negotiations.

I didn't know that Aron actually spent a year at the Bradenton academy. Makes more sense that he chose the US despite being entirely Icelandic and only born while his parents were here for business.

Last he spoke on the US, he said he wanted to take part in a camp before he made his choice. I wonder how the style of play, success and amount of goals they've been scoring since the Belgium friendly made him decide he couldn't afford to wait.

What's most encouraging about him is his highlights. The variety and technique of his goals. After that, it's pretty impressive how he led the Danish league in goals, transferred to an entirely new league while rehabbing and injury and then scored 3 in 5 in a totally new environment.

Ecuador star Christ Benitez dead a day after playing in Qatar summer heat. Get ready for a winter WC. Which I hate. [expletive] FIFA. Greedy asswipes making me take PTO in the dead of winter to watch an event that makes summer the best every 4 years.

With all of this great news about dual nationals committing to the US, this dude might be the best prospect we've ever had a shot at: http://www.fanatix.com/news/arsenal-starlet-gideon-zelalem-will-be-in-first-team-soon-says-jack-wilshere/129780/

Be nice to see him get involved.

Zelalem should be one of the highest priorites for USSF right now. The thoughts of future lineups of him, Aron, Brooks, Gil, etc is something to really get excited about.

@StarsStripesFC Sunil Gulati: "I asked the Mexican federation president if he had priced out charters to New Zealand."

ahahahahahahahahahahahaha

[expletive] sucks on Stu, some things in life simply are not fair for good people.

That video probably elevated my opinion on Gulati more than anything ever before.

FYI Sacha Kljestan left the first league match of the new season injured midway through the first half, but nothing serious (needed stitches in his ear).

Anderlecht finished the game with an all-teenage midfield of Bruno (19), Praet (19), Tielemans(16) and Acheampong (19).

Their coach thinks they need some incoming transfers. #-o
