chelsea doesn't have the best history with penalties. cech is better keeper than van der sar but pk's might be a different story.

Drogba being out doesn't help either.

Van der Saar looks hopeless out there. He's gone the right way twice but looks like he's trying to react to where the ball is going rather than just guessing.

Does Terry take the last one?

EDIT: Yep.

OH MY GOD TERRY SHANKED IT.

And how fitting that he slipped. You had to figure someone would get burned by the pitch.

Van der Saar saves Anelka's penalty to hand Man U the title.

I loved how Van der Saar acted like he had anything to do with Terry's kick.

Piss of to Inter, Didier. Screw off Anelka. You are the least compelling player ever.

Ugh. JT. That's brutal. I am so pissed Ronaldo got this trophy. That pos pisses me off.

I still can't believe Terry missed that penalty. I figured the two locks for Chelsea would be Ballack and Terry but JT shanked it.

I'm not at all shocked Terry missed that. I'm also not shocked that Ronaldo's stupid hesitation helped him miss that.

The best player on the field tonight was Carlos Tevez.

I hate the hesitation so much, and it without a doubt was the leading factor into him missing. Why even do it he is too a of a player to need to even consider doing it.

I feel really really bad for John Terry, that is something that will haunt him personally for the rest of his life. The shootout was actually fun not giving a damn about either team. Drogba is simply an idiot.

Ugh. So depressing. What a great night, let me tell you. I just feel so bad for JT because he made an incredible play to save a goal and he didn't deserve that.

i can't be mad at terry. he clearly slipped on the wet pitch with his plant foot. if he had completely shanked it on his own, then it'd be a different story. it's just unfortunate to lose in that fashion.

wolf, do you think grant will be sacked?

wolf, do you think grant will be sacked?

I think he'll move upstairs.

I'm curious as to what Roman is doing today?

seriously though, he does care passionately about chelsea and winning trophies. i wouldn't be surprised him getting a taste of the champions league final making him spend even more money than usual this summer to put chelsea back in a position to be at the top again.

Great game yesterday. I watched it at a pub and spent the rest of the night celebrating. Definitely a game of two halves. Chelsea were lucky not to be down 3-0 at halftime, Lampard's goal was a fluke. They were just as unlucky in the second half, though, with the two off the woodwork.

Vidic was immense. I thought he and Ronaldo were United's two best players, although everyone except Rooney and Carrick seemed to play pretty well.

It looks to me like Terry slips after he hits the ball, hard to tell. I wish Ronaldo would just put his PKs in the side netting instead of his stop-and-go routine. However, of his 3 PK misses this year, two have been wide and only Cech (and his face, and possibly his tangerine pajamas) kept him out legitimately, so I can't be too bothered by it.

I'm just glad that United got a chance to play Chelsea again and this time with their first 11. Definitely two of the best teams in Europe, but I do feel that the slightly better team won the championships.

Oh, and fair play to MPC above for recognizing the embarassment of some of Chelsea's antics around the ref. I feel the same whenever Ronaldo starts pouting.

No more club football for 3 months. :(

GLampard's goal was a fluke.

Except that no, it wasn't a fluke. It was terrible defending by Vidic and Rio.

Typical Ronaldo arrogance thinking he can A) break the rules and B) continue with a terrible technique even though he has missed more pk's in a season than he should in a career.

It's one thing for a keeper to get lucky and stone you, but to flat out miss 3 times in a season is bush league and entirely unacceptable for the world's best player. But yeah, go ahead and blame the pink shirt; I'm sure Ronaldo is.
