I would have brought in Dempster here..you need to save your long man for last. What happens if we get a run, bring Dempster in, then he gives up a run? Then we will really be scrambling for somebody to pitch.

Pierre walked

What's that bring his total on the year to? Three?

Lol..actually 27, but it feels like 3.

Izturis has had a good game, but he really ruined that inning for us.

Dusty Baker ruined that inning for us. let Pierre steal the damn base if you want to play small ball and sac him to third if need be.

Yup. Sac bunting Pierre to second lowers the chance of scoring a run in the inning. If Pierre were on second with no outs and were bunted to third, the chances of scoring increase.

Zambrano is ALWAYS available.

Someone should call out Neifi on his lack of hustle there.

Great. Run him out of town just when I made a Neifi T-Shirt using an enlarged version of my sig.

You could make a case for using Dempster when Ohman got into trouble.

Before Tony Larussa ruined baseball, teams used to use their best relievers when they were most needed. Now, setup men have to pitch the 8th, closers have to pitch the 9th, etc.

If it were 2 days after his start, I would be worried about that actually happening if this keeps going.

not to mention that both benches are under warning, so any beanball results in an ejection...again the stupidity of the arbitrary warning system.

I thought your sig was stolen from a tshirt design.

I doubt anyone will be thrown out at this point-remember, both benches were warned in Milwaukee last week and the Milwaukee pitcher hit our guy and he didn't get thrown out-the ump still has some discretion, and I'm pretty sure they would realize neither side wants to throw at each other now.

These types of games remind me why, even after all the stomach punches and groin kicks the Cubs have given me, baseball is the best sport ever created.

hmmm, off-day on Thurs, Guz last pitched Saturday

Actually it shouldn't be a problem if his pitches are very limited.

Edit: I mean Guz of course. I think it's a given that the Cubs were going to start Zambrano on normal rest.

Then you get Hill to pitch.

Warning: This will likely tick some people off, but someone answer me these questions, please:

I hate Novoa, but I give him props for getting out of the jam (thanks should go to the overaggressive Astros, too). I figured the game was over with the bases loaded and one out, even when there were two outs I thought something bad was going to happen. Why is it that some of you have no problem ripping guys but can't give them props when deserved?

Why did some of you blame Novoa for giving up a hit when the pitch to Burke was ankle high? Just curious if some of you are on here to talk about baseball -- the good and bad -- or just on here to gripe.

That's all.

I'm not worried about Guz tonight, I'm just wondering what this means, if anything, in Dusty's world of the pitching rotation.

I'm actually going to Wrigley this weekend due to events out of my control and I have a mild interest in figuring out who pitches.
