The I-Cubs need new commercials. I really don't want to hear about hemorrhoid surgeries.

Plus, they're interviewing random pointless people on the broadcast. A girl who works media relations and is leaving the I-Cubs to return to University of Iowa. And before that, some guy who had that aforementioned hemorrhoid surgery.

Seriously.

Iowa up 4-1 after 3.

Gallagher!! and St. Petrick's Day!!....I can't believe I'm the first one to say both so late in the day.

A belated

Gallagher! :D

and my first Happy St. Petrick's Day!

Gallagher just got nailed by a 'wicked' line drive in the midsection.

Ron: "Let's just say that he could be singing Michael Jackson later on tonight."

He fielded it off his body and got the out at 1B.

They checked him out and he's staying in. Hope he's ok.

1st Inning

Bah. After a 1-2-3 first inning, Billy Petrick surrenders a 2-run HR and a solo shot to start off the 2nd inning. Those 2 HRs are 2 more than Billy gave up last season in 37 innings and just 1 less than the 3 he gave up in 146.2 innings in 2004. :(

In the bottom of the 3rd, Tampa leads Daytona 3-0.

West Tenn & Jacksonville scoreless after 2

The Diamond Jaxx haven't scored in about 23 innings.

Petrick's third:

Hall: Line single.

Malec: FC, 6-4. Hit too slow for a GIDP.

Ehlers: Pop out.

Gonzalez: Single, Malec goes to third and on the throw to third, Gonzalez goes to second.

Greenwood: Walks on a close changeup on a full count, bases loaded. Mound visit.

Mendoza: FO - 8 :phew:

3 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 HR, 3 GO : 5 FO

K on Greenberg

Ron says that Adam Greenberg has been in an ongoing media scrum as he's being somewhat romanticized in the press as being the modern-day Moonlight Graham.

Jacksonville 1, West Tenn 0 after 4

Top of the 4th - Jaxx load the bases with one out but fail to score

Bottom of the 4th

infield single (first hit)

SB

Then I missed how they scored, sorry! Ron said one run on two hits. There was a K to end the inning.

Petrick gets 1-2-3 4th and 5th innings. Daytona down 3-0 in the middle of the 6th.

Billy: 5 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, BB, K, 2 HR, 7 GO : 6 FO

He's out there to start the 6th inning, hopefully the 6th goes better than his 6th last time out.

Sorry for the spotty play by play, but I'M MULTI-TASKING!

Jaxx don't score in the top of the 5th.

There was apparently a play involving a throwing error on Gallagher, though Ron's description of the subsequent Listach-visit-to-the-mound indicated that Sing may have missed a play? Maybe a pickoff? I don't know.

A subsequent single puts runners on 1st and 3rd with one out, then Gallagher walks the next batter to load the bases. There's then a discussion of how good pitchers have to rise above errors behind them (or, apparently, charged to them). Gallagher goes 3-0 on the next batter, comes back with a K, then gets a grounder for the force out at 2B.

HR ERIC PATTERSON!!!!

Gallagher is over 100 pitches.

Not so good for Petrick tonight:

5.1IP, 8H, 5ER, K, BB, 3 HR's, 7-7 GO-FO

Grant Johnson replaced him in the 6th after Petrick gave up his 3rd homer, and his line so far is

1.2IP, 2H, 2/0 K/BB, WP, 1-1 GO-FO

Mota and Spearman both have doubles, while Spearman has added a SB as well. Lane and Price both have 2 singles, Lane has scored the Cubs' only run so far. Simokaitis has added a single and an RBI, Harvey is 0-4 with 2K's. D-Cubs are down 5-1 in the top of the 8th.

Gallagher out after 6:

6 innings, 103 pitches, 3 hits, 1R, 1ER, 8Ks, 5BBs, 6GO-3FO

Still too many BBs. A lot of full counts on both the Ks and the BBs. No extra-base hits.
