Gallagher out after 6:

6 innings, 103 pitches, 3 hits, 1R, 1ER, 8Ks, 5BBs, 6GO-3FO

Still too many BBs. A lot of full counts on both the Ks and the BBs. No extra-base hits.

As bad as it sounds I'm actually glad he's struggling right now. After pretty much breezing through the FSL, I think it's good for him to face some adversity. Hopefully it'll make him stronger mentally, and make him even more hungry to improve his game. If he can rise to the challenge that's great, if not it just lets us know we can't push him as hard.

He's getting his strikeouts up, which was a problem for him in previous starts in AA.

I have faith he'll adjust. He might be well-served with starting in AA again next season.

His BB rate needs to improve. In other respects, I'm hard-pressed to say he's struggling. I do think finishing out the season and staying healthy is the goal this year.

Jaxx give up 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th and are down 3-1 in the 8th.

Maybe Brownlie should go the other way and turn into a hitter.

Not so good for Petrick tonight:

5.1IP, 8H, 5ER, K, BB, 3 HR's, 7-7 GO-FO

Grant Johnson replaced him in the 6th after Petrick gave up his 3rd homer, and his line so far is.

Disappointing to see him give up as many HRs tonight as he did all of this season and the previous 2 combined.

Billy seems to be succumbing to the big inning so far in Daytona:

July 29th: 6 IP, 3 ER -> all 3 ER came in the third inning

Aug 4th: 5+ IP, 3 ER -> all 3 ER came in the sixth inning

Today: 5.1 IP, 5 ER -> 3 ER in the 2nd, 2 ER in the sixth

He also seems to be tiring, definitely has in the last two starts, as he hasn't been able to get out of the 6th.

Boise is up 9-3 in the 8th. Canzler and Matulia both hit 3-run HRs, for Russ Canzler, it's the second straight day he's hit a HR. Tyler Colvin is 1 for 4. Jose Pina went 5 innings and gave up 2 runs (1 ER). Alessandro Maestri has gone 3 innings of relief and gave up 1 run.

Hm, I got 9-4 from the box on MiLB.com as soon as the game went final. It says 9-3 now, so I don't know what happened.

And just what were you doing at the time you looked at that box score?

DJaxx win!
See what they can do when they get away from the grip of my jinx?

Unfortunately, Tennessee beat Chattanooga tonight to take a two-game lead. :(

I told you NCCF was the jinx!

I say we set up a donation to send NCCF to the opening game for the Cubs next year. Since they're already cursed, his presence will uncurse them and we'll win it all....and NSBB/NCCF will break the curse!
