i know we all like to think we are much better than the pirates but if we seriously look at the 2 teams-

we are better at 3b,c and bullpen + z. they are better at everything else. we are lucky to be ahead of them.

Juan Pierre is better than Chris Duffy.

I don't think the guy in right field is tearing it up either.

I would also lean towards DLEE over there first baseman.

Who is THEIR first baseman?

Dusty, why did you leave Zambrano in to throw 117 pitches in a meaningless game?

I've got to save my bullpen, they've been overworked and I don't want to risk those guys wearing down late in the season.

Unless you think there's absolutely no correlation to pitching and pitching injuries, there's just no justification for this stupidity. When weighing the value of protecting one over the other, you protect your stud ace long before you even think about the health of your relievers.

Who knows?

I also think Prior will probably at some point next year be better than any pitcher they have.

Remember the garbage that Hendry was spewing when he was trying to pimp out Jacques Jones "defensive abilities" at the time of the press conference to announce his signing? JJ hasn't exactly been Todd Hundley at there, but he isn't as good defensively as Hendry claim. It's a very similar to how the Cubs and the Tribune have been pimping Izturis "defensive abilities" since the trade. The difference between the two....at least JJ has a resemblance of a bat.

So if the Cubs are planning to build around pitching and defense in 2007, should they perhaps.........try to get some pitchers and players who can defense to make it work?

So what does Izturis do the day after Maddux went 6 innings, 0 hits?

Why, he was so determined to justify the trade that he went out and goes 0 for 3 with an error.

But dude, I got to stick with the horses that got me here, dude. Z is my horse, and I listen to my horse, dude.

This is the same manager who has an unnatural disdain for walks, and that if you know how to walk, he will beat it out of you (coughsmurtoncoughs). So is it any surprise that the Cubs manager wouldn't know that pitching and pitching injuries have a connection?

But hey, Baker should be gone after the year, and we better HOPE we get a manager who knows the game of baseball, instead of trying to be the BFF with every player he manages.

time to realize that prior may be the worst pitcher on our staff and has been since last june.

dlee is not playing and may not the rest of the year. he is the best player on either team but if he does not play, he can not effect this season. he is also a shadow of his normal self because of the injury. this was about this season.

also nady and bay and anyone, are probably better than jones, murton and pierre.

Billy Williams is a nice man.

I don't know him at all (I've only met him once), but he is a friend of a friend. When my son was born last August, my friend told Billy about it, and Billy personalized a bat for my son and sent it to me.

I've never cared about autographs, but that one's a big deal to me.

Quibble: Nady is probably going to play 1B exclusively for the Pirates.

Izturis is still learning the infield. Give him time.

So, for Greg Maddux and $12 million or so over the next three years, we get a guy who is learning how to hit AND field?

Kill me now.

Be patient. He's an Omar Vizquel just waiting to happen.

He is neither the worst pitcher on the staff (Rusch), nor has he been since last June. Prior in the second half of 2005 was better than any other Cubs pitchers since that time, aside from Zambrano.

Actually it has already happened, and we're just too foolish to recognize because we've never played the game, or don't watch enough games, or don't appreciate the finer parts of his game, or something.

I just don't understand why other teams just don't set up their rotations against the Cubs, by having three lefties schedule. I mean, it doesn't take a rocket-scientist to figure that out. If every team for the rest of the yr, threw lefties in every game against the Cubs, I seriously doubt the Cubs would win another ballgame this yr.

With that said, Zach Duke is going tomorrow, so that is pretty guarantee a win for the Pirates. Now the Pirates need to do a pitching change for Sunday, and pull out Snell and put Paul Malholm in his place, and a SWEEP is guarantee.

My apologies. I'm always so close-minded.

He'll drive in runs with his glove.
