*whew*

Sorry, I just couldn't do it. Yes, I know the Beatles are widely regarded as the greatest rock band ever. Yes, I know many other bands would not have existed without them.

Yes, I know they are going to dominate this matchup.

Couldn't vote for them. I voted Metallica. I didn't grow up on the Beatles......I grew up on Metallica. The early stuff. The great stuff. Metallica was *THE* great band of my generation.

I thought I would vote Beatles, but then I just couldn't do it. I'm not passionate about the Beatles, just very very respectful.

There's just not much to say here. Best band of all time vs. an '80's metal band - even if it happens to be the very best '80's metal band - should not be a difficult decision. I'm surprised Metallica has 7 votes already.

but didn't you hear, the Beatles aren't a rock band. They are pop.

If Metallica wins this, I may cancel my subscription to NSBB.

I may do that if Led Zeppelin loses to the Beatles in the finals.

That match up is inevitable.

Well, I'll be voting for the Doors all the way, but I think you're right.

could be the finals, could be in the Final Four, but a lot depends on what happens in the next 3 days

Metallica is my most favorite band of all time. Personally I think they are better than the Beatles and nothing will be able to convince me otherwise.

That being said, I knew they didn't have a chance against the Beatles, Zeppelin, or the Stones. Maybe against Pink Floyd but we don't get to see that matchup.

I noticed that the Doors and Metallica are the only 2 American bands in the final 8. There really wasnt a lot of American representation in the sweet 16 either. I really liked Metallica in the 80s. Mainly because most other metal bands during that period SUCKED. I still have a hard time saying they are the greatest American band ever though. I voted Beatles in this one. I am interested to see the other elite eight matchups. I am thinking a #1 seed may go down. I am predicting the Doors pull off an upset if they go against the Stones or Pink Floyd

.

you like them better personally or you think Metallica are actually better songwriters-musicmakers?

Perhaps when some people want to crank up the radio, they aren't interested in "Love Me Do," "Yesterday" or "Penny Lane."

I love when people argue that the Beatles aren't "rock" enough and then pick songs like Yesterday to attack.

"Kerry Wood wasn't a fireballer. His curve barely hit 70 mph."

Yes, but even if you take the Beatles' hardest song (say, Helter Skelter) it sounds like James Taylor compared to Battery

No doubt Metallica is the heavier rock band. If his argument had been, "some people like to crank up the radio, and Metallica is better for that b/c they rock harder than the Beatles" - no problem. It's just that this has come up a few times now "the Beatles aren't rock" or whatever. But people always bring up Yesterday as support.

Well, I noticed you didn't use Nothing Else Matters as your token Metallica song to prove that they rock. You picked what I assume is one of their harder rock songs to prove your point. That's valid - it makes sense. I'm just tired of reading that the Beatles aren't rock music b/c they wrote some great ballads.
