Since we would be paying most if not al the rest of his salary, who would we get?

I dont know the Padres system real well but a corner OF guy with some pop and OBP that was an AA or A guy would be nice.

Their farm system is below average in terms of quality of talent. Their top prospect is C George Kottaras, who's down in AAA. He hit well in AA, but is struggling a bit down in AAA. P Cesar Carrillo has a nice upside, but has an injury history that's a bit problematic.

Other than that, I can't say I know much else about the guys they have.

Also reported on the WSCR.

WSCR probably just read the sportsline article and then claimed they had "inside information".

Kottaras is considered their number two prospect. Carrillo is still considered number one even with the forearm problem he had.

Kottaras is playing hurt in Portland. That is when he plays. He has been on the bench quite a lot due to a strained neck.

I was wading through the comments on ChicagoSports.com where between trade proposals of Prior, Pie and Walker for Cesar Izturis and suggestions that the Cubs send 5 minor leaguers for Alfonso Soriano, I came across this...

The Cubs need to rid themselves of dead-weight...like Todd Walker, who only seems to hit weak ground balls to kill rallies. Submitted by: Cal City Steve 11:04 AM CDT, Jul 31, 2006

So it is true. Dusty does read and post on the internet.

You know we're not going to get anything of value for Walker (think less than what we got for Williamson).

Yep. A ball never has been, never will be pitcher. Hendry does like his pitchers.
