Wow, this is tough. Only vote I really even had to think about. I went with The Who. While Nirvana's short stint only adds to their legacy (it's better to burn out than fade away), it does leave them as less accomplished.

Nirvana is possibly the most overrated band ever. If Cobain doesn't die, they have a Pearl Jam/Pumpkins type career arc. Not bad, but not earth shatteringly great.

This is where Nirvana finally bows out.

I'm about 10 years too young to have grown up with The Who, and while I recognize their place in rock history, Nirvana more fully impacted my views on music. I remember seeing the video for "Smell Like Teen Spirit" on Headbanger's Ball in 1991 (when Cobain was wearing the yellow gown..."I was told this was to be a ball, so I dressed appropriately"). I was completely blown away. I knew after hearing that song once that this band was going to be huge.

Certainly.

This is easy for The Who...or it should be. (still is rocking to Quadrophenia)

Nirvana's going to need a late rally. I don't see it happening though.

Good thing too.

They should have never gotten past Cream.

I voted Who. I probably would have voted for several other sweet 16 bands that lost over the Who though. U2, The Kinks, either the Doors or Jimi Hendrix and maybe Black Sabbath.
