The Jaxx' second inning:

Negron walks.

Negron steals second base.

Fox singles, Negron scores. 1-0, DJaxx.

Weston singles, Fox to second.

Cates singles, bases loaded.

Shaver grounds into a double play, Fox scores. 2-0, DJaxx.

Walker up and the broadcast dies. :(

Now it's back and they're in commercial, so I think Walker didn't come through. EDIT: Walker struck out.

After 2, the Jaxx are up 2-0.

Shaver gets a 1-2-3 third. 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 Ks

Very interesting getting an outside team's broadcaster's opinion on the ownership and attendance situation.

The Tennessee broadcaster last night was saying that he saw Samardzija pitch about a year ago (college game? don't know, wasn't paying close attention at first) and Samardzija was topping out in the upper 80s. He's skeptical of and a bit astonished at reports of him now hitting in the mid-90s.

Ooo, earlier in the game...for the first time all season...

DOPE SLAP!

AWESOME!!!!

What was he saying?

Things like "we and the rest of the SL should be thankful that we have the support we do."

in Jackson, Negron grounds out, 6-4, to end the threat in the bottom of the 7th.

In Las Vegas, Restovich hits a 2-run HR. Iowa still down 6-3.

Yeah. There were quite a few different reports about Samardzija's velocity because he was throwing in the 80s in 2005 at ND, but this season at ND, he picked his velocity up to where it's at now.

Thanks, Ron:

Jackson, TN (July 30th)- The Tennessee Smokies rallied from a 5-0 deficit to defeat the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx 6-5 on Sunday afternoon at Pringles Park.

The Smokies were down 5-0 before scoring four runs in the sixth inning off Diamond Jaxx starter Chris Shaver. With two outs, Jesus Cota doubled off the right field wall. Jaime D'Antona drove in Cota with a single to make it a 5-1 game. Agustin Murillo reached on a fielding error by Diamond Jaxx 3B Scott Moore, putting runners at first and second. Mark Reynolds doubled home D'Antona to make it 5-2. Phil Avlas capped the inning with a two run double to pull the Smokies to within a run. All but one of the runs scored were unearned.

The Smokies tied the game in the seventh inning when Jerry Gil led off the inning with a home run off reliever Carmen Pignatiello.

The game remained tied at five until the ninth inning when Alberto Gonzalez was hit with a pitch from Carlos Vasquez (3-4) with two outs in the inning. Jesus Cota came up and hit a groundball that went off the glove on a diving attempt by Diamond Jaxx 1B Brian Dopirak. The ball ricochet passed 2B Eric Patterson, allowing Gonzalez to score the eventual winning run from second base.

Chris Kinsey (1-2), who was tagged with the loss the night before, picked up the win. Bill White pitched a scoreless ninth to nail down his sixth save of the season.

Brian Dopirak hit his first home run of the season, driving in two of the five runs, to pace the Diamond Jaxx offense. Jake Fox and Scott Moore chipped in with two hits each.

Game three of the five game series takes place on Monday night at 7:05 CDT. Righty Juan Mateo (7-4 2.82) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Tennessee will counter with righty Ross Ohlendorf (8-6 3.15).

That's about right. A year ago he was topping out around 93 at his best sitting in the upper 80s. However in 2005 he was pitching AND doing spring football practice at the same time. His legs were dead. This year Wies said he didn't have to go, poof his legs were back and his velocity shot up. It's no surprise.
