It seems like he's gotten a free pass this year when he's been pretty bad, too (by his standards). Still, he's the best option we have, and I'll be irritated if JH just gives him away.

 

And I really think that's the only point that most people are making...don't give him away. If it seems like he's gotten a free pass, I imagine it's because despite his deficiencies, he's usually one of the more consistently good players on the team, if only because this team is just so bad.

 

I don't think most people are opposed to trading Walker in a fair deal.

Even in that hypothetical universe, people would not be at all unfair to give a little more slack to a guy who has helped the team in the past, as opposed to a guy like Neifi who has hurt the club most of the time.

I think another reason people like Walker is that he took a discount because he wanted to play here...and because he speaks his mind, even though it's not always a good idea. People like when players go somewhere and it's not because of money.

I don't know what's a bigger joke, this thread or the responses in it glorifying Todd Walker for being "accountable" for being a terrible 2nd basemen. Sure, ok it was very commendable for taking responsibility for not making plays my 8 year old autistic niece could make, fine.

Plus, we're all acknowledging Walker as a good guy, and solid OBP guy. Not "everybody" said he should stay our 2B. I like Todd but we need someone better.
