Wells gives up an unearned run (error on Pie) in the first, but McGehee's solo HR in the 2nd ties it up at 1-1. Pie grounded into a 6-4-3 DP with two on and one away to end the inning.

That's all for Wells. Have to give him credit. He was shelled in his first AAA appearance but has responded with four very good outings in a row now.

Mitch looked better last night than I've seen since the MWL break a few weeks back. Was glad to see it. Gary Hughes was in the stands all 3 games with Wisconsin. Not sure if it's the trade deadline coming up, but I'm also continuing to see a number of scouts in the stands at Chiefs games as well (I counted 3 guns beyond the pitchers doing their regular charting last night)

It's going to be brutal over the next couple of days - especially Sunday, where the Chiefs are scheduled to play at 2pm in 95 degree, 90+% humidity. Ack.

Good to hear.

Quade's take on Wells last night:

DesMoinesRegister.com[/url]"]“He had a much better slider tonight than he had in his previous outing, and that was the big pitch for him all night,” Quade said. “To me, this was his best outing to date at this level, for sure.”
