This game has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Steve Philips has no right being GM ever again. Holy crap has he spouted some mindless and stupid things about prospects and their development.

What a horrible announcing team.

Agreed. Maybe the guys in the booth don't think this game is important, but this is a big deal to the players and their friends and families.

These kinds of games and playoff games are certainly more important in judging the value of a prospect than half a season of minor league ball.

Of course, the stupid things said about the minor leagues were only said when they were actually talking about the minor leagues.

the very brief inning or so I heard on XM was good announcer-wise. Joe Castellano and Rob Dibble - Rob's always entertaining to hear comment on a game, and he still seemed to have a clue about some of the prospect talent out there. Didn't hear the whole thing and forgot to set my TiVo. How did EPatt end up doing?!?

He grounded back to the mound (the pitcher had to make a nice stab to his left) on a 2-0 pitch. I don't believe he had any chances in the field.

Maybe it was just the seats I had at the Kane County game last year, but his stance seemed more open than I remember it.

Posted this in the Minors, but just for you:

Eric Patterson joins his brother Corey as Futures Gamers, and he's showing a different setup than he had in college at Georgia Tech. The Cubs second baseman has ditched the exaggerated leg kick that scouts criticized in college, feeling it caused the younger Patterson to try to hit for power too much and pop the ball up. Patterson is hitting .279/.338/.418 at Double-A West Tenn this season.
