Silver lining: The Cubs are guaranteed to lose today, so there won't be a temptation to think Dusty has turned things around with a three game winning streak. It would be a fitting last game for Dusty as manager of the Cubs.

It may be just to give him a few extra days rest, with the break coming up after today's game. He may start the first game after the break on Thursday (my speculation, not anything I've actually seen).

Prior must have a legitamate injury. Dusty's fighting for his job and the ace is hurt. I doubt he's out just to sit out and rest.

 

I'd trade Prior in heartbeat. I'm just sick of hearing the potential upside. Be a man and pitch every start.

 

Maddux has missed 1 start in his entire career due to injury. Amen.

Mark Prior was scratched from his scheduled start Sunday due to a strained oblique.

Nice of the Cubs to provide such advanced notice that another one of their starters was hurting. We suppose they need every slight advantage they can get as they try to stay ahead of the Pirates for the NL's worst record. Glendon Rusch is starting in Prior's place on Sunday.
