I give you credit Scott....you got 5 pages out of this thread.

That's 5 more than I thought you would.

Only 4 in Premium.

That's not very Premium. If I'm paying, this thread needs to be stomped and hurled into an alley where it can be peed on by bums and laughed at by children.

Weather they will is another story.

Weather? :sunny:

Weather, whatever. Sunny if we win.

KC won 11 out of 16. Another reason for hope.

That's not a sign for hope. What good is 11/16 when you are still just 30-54? It's just a sign that any crap team can have short bursts of decent results, but they are still very likely to remain a crap team when all is said and done.

I don't believe we have a crap team.

What else can you call the 28th best team out of 30 in baseball, a team that has a much worse W-L percentage than a team with about an eighth of our payroll (Florida) and, if switched divisions with KC, would no doubt be 30th?

Cubs are now only half a game away from the Royals. Still 3 away from Pittsburgh though.

I think the inherent comedy value of this thread will keep it chugging along.

Scott, I have to admire your optimism. If this team were sitting at 20 games under .500 with 20 games left in the season, you'd be stating that this team will rattle off 20 wins and get back to .500. That's looking on the bright side of life. If you're this peppy and hopeful in real life, more power to you.

Nevertheless, this is one of the worst Cubs teams I've seen in my lifetime. It'll take a lot of changes for them to turn it around. The problem is, they've dug themselves into a really deep hole. As far as I can tell, Jim Hendry and Dusty Baker think the best way to get out of it is to dig their way out.

That's a bad thing.

I think its quite funny too. I like the fact Cub fans want to believe in this thread but really don't want to either. Kind of like being a Cub fan all wrapped up in one thread.

Yeah this team isn't the best I've seem in a while. I'm stunned how far the Cubs have fallen so fast. From being picked to go to the World series just 2 years ago to this crap season is mind blowing. This is why I believe they can turn it around just as fast. No team is as black and white as the Cubs from all good to terrible. The middle ground, or gray is the 0.500 level this year.

Good game last night. 3 quality piching games in a row and the Cubs are 2 out of 3 with the one lose falling on the offense.

Thread still relavent as is the September 9th date.

Considering the date I posted it. The Cubs have played okay, not great but okay. I'd say their a couple of "game innings" from a winning streak.

"Relevant" is a very subjective term.
