Petrick Day as well. I was never high on him until coming to this site in 2004 and reading the raves about him. Lets hope he comes back from injury well

Hill's 5th: single, popup DP 4-3, single, called K. 83 pitches, 57 strikes. Shane Costa has 3 hits off of Hill.

 

5 IP, 6 hits, 1 ER, 2 BB's, 6 K's. Iowa still leads 5-1.

West Tenn and Huntsville are scoreless going to the 5th. Shaver has 6 Ks through 4.

 

Sotolongo and Grant Johnson are doing a good job for Daytona with 7 scoreless. It's 0-0 in the 8th.

 

Peoria up 10-2 in the 3rd. :shock: Every Chief besides Johnston and Reynolds (2 walks instead) has a hit. Yusef Carter has a 3-run shot and 5 RBI.

Hill's 6th: 3 ground outs.

 

Hill's 7th: flyout, popout, single, popout. 97 pitches, 67 strikes. I'll assume that he's probably done.

Daytona wins 1-0. Sotolongo pitched 5 innings of 2 hit ball while walking none and striking out 4. Johnson pitched 2 innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 3. Hunton pitched an inning allowing one hit while striking out the side and Schappert pitched a 1-2-3 9th to earn his 3rd save of the season. Daytona only had 4 hits tonight: Simokaitis, Spearman, Harvey, and Wick. Wick had the lone RBI on an RBI single in the 9th to score Harvey.

 

Emanuel made it out of the 8th for Iowa with no further damage. Still 7-6 Iowa in the 9th.

 

West Tenn is scoreless in the 7th.

 

Peoria leads 11-7 in the 5th.

Carter had a grand slam and a sac fly....

 

JOhnston is now 0-for-4 with 3k and a double play. in 7 games he has played this half he is 1-for-27 with 18 K, 5 3k games...4 errors (one tonight led to 2 unearned runs)...and his average is at .191...

Iowa loses 8-7 in 12. After another great start from Hill, Atlee and Emanuel pitched the 8th and combined for 4 hits, 5 ER's, 1 BB, 1 K, and 2 homers given up in the inning. Wuertz pitched the 9th and 10th, giving up a game-tying homer in the 9th with 2 outs, and he finished with 2 hits allowed, that 1 ER, and 3 K's. Aardsma got the loss as he went an inning and a third giving up 3 hits, 3 BB's, and a K, as well as the winning run. McGehee had a 4 hit night tonight, Restovich hit his 11th homer of the year, and Hoffpauir had 2 hits. Felix went 2/6 with a stolen base and a strikeout. Montanez, Coats, and Soto all had doubles, and Theriot also had a hit.

 

Jaxx beat Huntsville 1-0. Shaver went 6 innings only giving up 4 hits, 1 BB, 0 runs, and struck out 9. Federico Baez got his 2nd win of the season as he pitched the 7th allowing 1 hit, 1 BB, and striking out 2. Pignatiello pitched an inning and 2/3's allowing a hit, a BB, and had a K and Cherry closed it out as he retired the only batter he faced. Moore was 2/3 with a double and a run scored and Negron was 2/3 with a triple. Rojas had the lone RBI of the game as he came through with an RBI single, which scored Moore. EPatt went 1/4.

 

Peoria beat Burlington 12-7. Blackford struggled tonight as he went 4 and 1/3 allowing 8 hits, 7 runs, 5 ER's, 3 BB's, 1 K, and allowed a homer. Rayborn improved his mark to 5-1 as he pitched the next 3 and 1/3 innings allowing only 2 hits, 0 runs, 1 BB, and had 6 K's. Koerber pitched the final inning and a third allowing 1 hit, 1 BB, 0 runs, and struck out 2. Yusuf Carter was 1/3 with 1 homer, 5 RBI's, and 2 runs scored. Mark Reed and Alberto Garcia had 2 hits. Malone and Valdez each had doubles. Chirinos went 1/4.

Papelbon must have some nasty pitches or something. I remember Quaker saying he wasn't going much up into the 80's, but in relief of Samardzija he's gone 2IP with 4k and 1BB.
