Samardzija with an awesome start to the game. He went 3 scoreless and has allowed one hit, one walk, and 5 Ks.

Papelbon is now in for the Hawks.

Nice, it's just too bad that I really can't see a situation where he doesn't choose the NFL :(

Boise won 4-0. Samardzija, Papelbon, and Francisco combine to throw a 2 hitter. Francisco pitched the final 2 innings allowing a hit, a BB, and 3 K's. Canzler was 3/4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Baez had 2 hits and an RBI. Camp and Puello each added hits. Colvin was 0/5 with 3 K's and a run scored.

Samardzija pitched on 3 days rest (of course that's not that big a concern when he only threw 33 pitches last time out).

Jeremy Papelbon has now thrown 9 shutout innings to open up his pro career.

Tyler Colvin has now struck out 7 times in 13 ABs in Boise (with 1 walk).

He's definitely ready. Why haven't the Cubs called him up yet?

Papelbon must have some nasty pitches or something. I remember Quaker saying he wasn't going much up into the 80's, but in relief of Samardzija he's gone 2IP with 4k and 1BB.

I don´t think the radar reading in SK was accurate, but he was not blowing the hitters away with a blazing fastball. But none of them were getting any quality swings against him.

I told you that Sammy's last stats were not indicative of the quality of his stuff. I think he is going to be good. I hope he has enough success early on so that he chooses to play baseball.
