Ok I was at today's pathetic loss to the Sox and have a few things to talk about. First, there were a TON of White Sox fans there and they were loud. I actually kind of enjoyed it as maybe that is the only way we can make a point to Hendry. I mean in reality I hated seeing so many fans in the friendly confines cheering for the opponent, but maybe it can show the front office that it's not a given that Cubs fans will just stand back and watch this team be awful.

Second, the Pierre out at the plate play. Obviously from watching replays he was safe and it was a blown call. I was furious that Dusty did nothing. I mean with the "no fire" attitude we see from this team every single day there was no better time to go out and fire your guys up by making a point to an umpire. Dusty just doesn't have the passion it takes to manage a team like the Chicago Cubs with the fan base that we have. He isn't able to handle such a demanding fan base, and it is really as simple as that.

Third, the booing of Jones on a popup was flat out [expletive]. The guy has a good game at the plate and pops out in the 7th or 8th and gets booed. Do the majority of the fans even pay attention to anything. WTF was that? He has clearly been one of our best hitters this season and manages to get booed for making contact even though it had poor results. I don't really like the guy as a player, but I would like to think our fan base isn't so unintelligent.

Finally, if anyone is going to Saturday or Sunday games try to get a "fire Dusty" or "Dusty sucks" chant going. I think it is the only way we as fans can take a stance and demand something from our front office. If we don't start to show our displeasure towards the areas that should receive the negative attention, then things will just be allowed to play out for the remainder of the season. As fans, let's take a stand and demand something happen NOW, not this whole wait and see approach that Hendry wants.

Sorry for the rants guys, it is just getting unbearable as a fan!

as for the pierre play at the plate....

you can tell in the replay that his hand missed the plate. He was out, the cubs suck.

I think every Cub fan who has tickets to the next 2 games should find a Sox fan to sell them to. The Trib bean counters will still be happy over a sellout, but maybe MacPhail, Hendry and Baker will realize they are losing the "hearts and minds" of Cub fans, to borrow a phrase from Dubya.

Maybe the fans were booing the whole team because Jones has clearly been one of our best hitters this season.

LOL, isn't that a sad thing to think about. A guy that really nobody wanted as a free agent who has been better than expected, but is still just an average player is the best hitter on this team (except Lee). Also, I haven't seen a replay since getting home and the only one that I saw I had to turn around and look at the section behind me as I was in Upper Deck Box. Good to know that he was out, but at the same time I think it is unimaginable that Baker would not go out and argue for a player on such a meaningful play (for the game certainly not for the season).

Hendry probably sees this as more proof that he can fill the seats of Wrigley at any time, regardless of how bad the product on the field is.

How does Dusty not arguing a bang-bang call at the plate, show that he can't handle a demanding fan base? Talk about a stretch.

I also don't understand how having Sox fans there will make any point to Hendry or cause anything to happen, and it's ridiculous to ask people to sell their tickets to Sox fans so management understands. There are always Sox fans at this series, yesterday didn't seem much different.

Honestly do people actually think that Jim Hendry will say "Geez there's a lot of Sox fans here today, I guess the fans are unhappy about this season. The Cubs fans that are here are chanting Dusty Sucks. Well I guess now I have to fire Dusty now and try to win, because I know they're upset won't accept it." Come on.

No one in that kind of position is going to be persuaded to change their mind because some fans are chanting "Fire Dusty". It's also incredibly foolish to think that Hendry/Baker/MacPhail don't understand already that the fans are extremely upset about this season.

If you want to boo so you can vent and feel better, then go ahead. I just hate this idea that "we have to show the Trib we won't accept losing by not showing up, booing and chanting 'Fire Dusty'."

I don't think Hendry feels that way. Jim strikes me as a very proud man who is being destroyed by this turn of events. I think his mind is screaming that something needs to be done, but that same pride keeps him from admitting that Dusty isn't the man for this team. I am sure that he is supremely embarrassed by today's events and the presence of tons of opposing fans each of the last few series at home, which used to be invulnerable to such catastrophe.

The proof is in the pudding, but Jim doesn't eat pudding, unfortunately.

well i think he actually owns a pudding factory, he used his revenue to re-sign Neifi Perez and Glendon Rucsh.

The Score made a mockery of that play at the plate. They were having people call in and pledge money to get Dusty a booster seat so he could see plays at the plate since he said that the reason he didn't argue it was because he couldn't see it from the dugout. Now if you've ever been in the dugout, it's true you can't see from there, but you CAN get yourself into position TO see it. By the way... they never did get enough for the booster seat!

Here's the thing, who cares if he was out or not. It was close. Our team has been beaten into the ground. We need something to rally around.

Think about that and tell me how there is one freaking excuse why the man wasn't out there raising hell until they threw him out. He should have made that minor league ump look like a dignified professional.

Get yourself thrown out, go into the dugout on your way out and scream "DAMNIT, YOU MOTHER BLEEPERS WIN THIS GAME NOW!"

no, Dusty saw the play

He was still stunned Pierre got a hit and was on 3rd, his mouth was to the floor...

I can see it now,

"Greta job Juan! Now your batting .256! You gotta start somewhere!"

The last time I can remember Dusty coming out and passionately arguing about something was the infamous botched double switch.

Somehow, in retrospect, it figures that was the only thing he cared enough about to get really angry.

exactly he cannot stand it when he cant play Neifi perez.

but when Juan is in a close play, hes just thinking about subbing Neifi in for him.

That's the only time he's ever got in an umpires face and gone wild. I think it has to do w/ the fact he's got a 5-year old son
