This is Un-Freakin' Believable. The Cubs are now holding paid clinics for business people on game days. The coaches hit grounders, pitch to these bums and hit flyballs. This often prevents the Cubs from doing extra workouts at Wrigley, because there is no time. Yesterday was a prime example. Because these business people were on the field, prior to the gates opening, only the Brewers could work out. The Cubs had BP and that was it.

This franchise continues to put $$$ ahead of winning. Nice going, Hendry.

Wow. I'm speechless. Don't even know how to respond to the thought of the Cubs not being able to work out because of some paid clinic. Anger comes to mind first.

Hmm I've got an idea for the team if they are gonna hold clinics. SHOW UP AT THE PARK EARLIER AND PRACTICE BEFORE THE CLINICS TAKE PLACE!! another novel idea PRACTICE ON YOUR DAYS OFF!! Dusty should be at the field and not on some lake fishing!! The rest should be at the ball park and not at the golf course!!

There really is no reason that a perfect fundamental team like the Cubs need to practice before games. [/sARCASM]

Did you see the clinic they put on last night? It was pretty cool.

Thats rather absurd. Its not like these guys are working 3 hours a day. They are working at least 6 days a week as it is. I know they are paid a ton, but an off day should be just that.

Tell us about how you practice you job on your days off....

I take everything I hear from Mike Murphy with a grain of salt. I find most of his rants rather obtuse.

Somebody should take up a collection so members of the team can participate.

See, I thought that at first. But then I realized the Cubs coaches are actually leading the clinics.

Someone should sign up the rest of the NL Central for these clinics!

I wouldn't have an issue with this if they were open tryouts to replace the crap they keep running out on the field.

Not that I doubt this is happening, do you have a link to verify?

A sports radio station in Chicago had sound clips from Chris Speier mentioning the Cubs couldn't practice apart from BP before yesterday's game because of a clinic. Speier did not sound very happy about it cuase heck his job is on the line too. The Cub beat reporter confirmed this and said the clinics were typical.

Sonny Jackson was on the SCORE last year complaining that before day games it is hard for players to get any extra practice in. But it's not like Corey couldn't get to the park extra early or stay late to practic ehis bunting. Where there is a will there is a way.

I'd agree if they'd ever play competently enough to actually EARN an off day.
