I just can't feel angry anymore when we lose.

I just feel sorry for Ronny who dies a little bit with every loss, but has to sit and watch and call the game for the team he loves.

I feel sorry for the players that are great people like Ryan Dempster who are going to be taking the losses so hard, even though he got hit in the hip with a line drive and hasn't pitched in a save situation since May 30th.

But mostly, I just feel depressed. When the Cubs were up tonight, and coming back it was such an incredible release of happiness, and then when they let the game roll between their legs it just reversed all emotion and doubled it.

I'm past the point of anger. I just want the Cubs to win a couple games.

The stages of grief usually go denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. An examples:

Denial: "Dusty isn't dumb enough to play Neifi that often THIS year."

Anger: "How in the name of all that is holy does he keep putting in Neifi?!?!?!?"

Bargaining: "Ok..... if he's playing Neifi this much, he'll at least regularly bat Walker at the top of the order right? Right?"

Depression: "Seeing Neifi get regular playing time is almost as pitiful as losing nine straight at home."

Acceptance: "With Dusty comes Neifi (and Bynum and Womack), and there's nothing we can do about it."

Geez guys. It's a game. The cubs suck...get over it...and realize that this will happen many more times in your lives (trust me, I've been through many bad seasons), so cheer up, and enjoy watching them lose.

My emotions jump all over the place depending on the day. Some times I'm angry (livid), some days I just laugh, and other days I want to cry. Last night was one of the sad ones. I feel bad for the players sometimes. I played on some pretty bad teams in my day (recreational) and it's really depressing when you go through phases where you just keep finding ways to lose.

Baker and Hendry really should be ashamed of themselves.

Nah, I'm stuck in depression.

I've been a fan for soooo frickin long, and a true fan, never wavered. I haven't even lived in Illinois in (let me work this out...) 24 years (yikes!) and still make every effort to get to games (in philly) and watch them as much as possible. I WEAR A CUBS HAT IN PUBLIC. IN PHILADELPHIA. Say no more

I cannot stand the lack of anything to hang my hopes on with this team

Dusty is beyond aweful. He reminds me of our current president. Always making the wrong choice when given a 50/50. Always blaming everyone else. A weenie

The team plays with no fire. NONE. I love gamers. I love taking the extra base. I love bang bang double plays. I love dirty uniforms..... See a pattern?

And the hope of EVERY CUB fan, the chant for the last 100 years is "wait until next year". I just cannot bring myself to feel that optimism. They don't seem to be able to develop talent. They seem to have an amazing inability to sign valuable FA's. I have no confidence in the management of this organization.

Just having a great ballpark and loyal fans who fill it every home game does not indicate that you are doing an acceptable job. It is a luxury that you should value and reward every frickin year, not every 30 years (or every 100....)

This year is different. This year is worse.

Get over it? Yes, it is a game, but it's not that easy when you have a passion for the Cubs like so many of us do. It's because they're not simply a BAD team.. they're a RIDICULOUS team. I don't even know what to think. No way to fix them. Depressing, sad, etc. It's all of those....

The one thing I'm really sad about is it's obvious we fans love this team far more then Cubs management or the players. There is zero passion coming from the Cubs org! For the first time in my life I'm really embarrassed being a Cubs fan and that is saying alot! I still wear my Cubs hat and gear, but the Pride I had in this team is wearing thin.

I've been laughing at this organization for awhile now. I got a really good laugh last night when Dusty pulled Nevin for pinch runner Murton.

First pitch, Cedeno lays down the bunt and advances Murton, something he could have just as easily done with Nevin on 1st.

I guess there was no thought of maybe letting a pitch or two go by, hoping one hits the dirt. Or maybe even attempting to steal so Cedeno could bunt Murton to 3rd. It would make sense in that case.

I skedaddled past acceptance, and moved right into comedy with this club. This team makes me laugh more then anything else.

I enjoy watching them hit new lows and lose in new ways. Like screwing up the rundown last night for instance. Or Z hitting a homer and then dumpster blowing it...

If your going to be bad, be real bad, .500 is for amatatures, .300 is for the cubbies

No offense to MustangMike at all, but MODS, can we be consistent here.

We couldn't use Sam ME, we couldn't use K and Patt, can we not allow posters to use Dumpster? If the previous two were juvenile, so is Dumpster.

I'm no mod, but I think the situations are different. The K and the Patt thing, as well as the Sammy stuff was just inundating the board, popping up in every thread about those two hot button issues. It wasn't just about being juvenile. A lot of juvenile stuff goes on here without comment. Dempster/Dumpster talk hasn't been that prevalent, which is why it's still probably allowed.

As I think goony said pretty well, it wasn't so much about the names themselves, as it was the sheer frequency of use. If "Dumpster" becomes a problem, we'll address it. Also, in the future, it's probably best to PM a mod with these type of concerns, as it can be missed in the middle of a thread.

Well if comedy is the step after acceptance, then I at comedy as well.

Also, "dumpster" is an actual word in addition to being a nickname.
