what scares me is that macphail is going nowhere, thusly hendry will be going nowhere,

Andy might be in NY within a year or two. When he's gone, Hendry's biggest supporter is gone. I believe Hendry will have to turn things around by next season or he'll be canned either way. The Cubs are not afraid to fire people.

i hope you're right, but i'm wondering what macphail has done in chicago that other teams might admire and covet.

I might be wrong, but I think goony is referring to Andy becoming commisioner.

I don't believe that this team has what it takes to win, even if God (or your omnipotent deity of choice. If you are agnostic, I guess maybe Bobby Cox would fit the bill there) was the manager.

I disagree. God would not have Neifi playing almost everyday and batting 2nd.

But my point is that they would not be a good team if Neifi never started. They are just not very good.

But they could be better.

Yes indeed, fundamental baseball would help even marginal talent look OK.

"A slip-up in the revenue sharing department has added an extra 100 million dollars to the Cubs payroll. The Cubs respond by trading Neifi and cash for A-Rod and shipping Rusch and cash for Brandon Webb."
