Didn't see it posted yesterday, but maybe it was:

The Associated Press reports Chicago Cubs SP Kerry Wood (shoulder) was in Cincinnati Monday, June 26, to visit Dr. Tim Kremchek about his ailing shoulder. Wood threw a side-session while hooked up to a biochemical analysis machine. The results showed Wood's injury has healed perfectly, the rotator cuff looks good and the joint looks good. Cubs' trainer Mark O'Neal after speaking with Dr. Kremcheck said, "There is no significant concerns of any kind of significant issue or injury or anything like that."

So what the heck is up?

Wow. I hadn't heard of that technology before. That's pretty cool.

From that Daily Herald article:

“We found a small muscular imbalance in anterior shoulder strength compared to posterior shoulder strength,” O’Neal said. “Most pitchers have that. It’s something we need to work on. That’s where the soreness is coming from. We’re not going to throw for four or five days after his side today.

“Dr. Kremchek is confident Kerry will be able to come back and get through this.”

What good does this do if he will just do it all over again?

I would like to see him do what Smoltz did. Pitch relief instead of starting.

I'm wondernig if he needs to work on pitching through the tightness, or stretching more...

If there is nothing structurally wrong, he should be able to come up with some excercise to help.

Of course, that might involve having a competent pitching coach to give him some ideas.

Any doubt that Kerry Wood isn't going to have an All-Star season next year for another team just went out the window with this report.

I think I'm one of the very few who thinks he'll do it in a Cubs uni.

I hope you're right.

I think it all depends on what he'll take after the cubs buy him out. If he still wants to make 10+ million a year, he'll find it outside of chicago.

Personally (and especially now that we have some info to back up the fact that his arm is healthy) I'd love to see them sign him to a two year extension which vacates the option for next year. Something like 2 years, $15 million (assuming he'd accept that).

I'm all for him making $10 million for the Cubs next year...

...so long as it's based upon performance incentives. I'd love to see him PROVE he wants to be a Cub his whole career. take the 2 year, $14 million base contract with lots of incentives for innings pitched.

I would like the Cubs to try and resign him with IP incentives. I'm just afraid they'll blame 2006 on injuries, and therefore rid themselves of injured players in order to solve the problem. They'll blame the guys who got hurt, without even thinking of the millions wasted on healthy guys who absolutely sucked and the circumstances surrounding those injuries in the first place.

And Miller was worth a million too.

Yea I can't see Hendry allowing Wood to bite him in the ass, so he'll go the way of Nomar and totally have a dominant year/career away from Wrigley.
