I think the whole "pick up the base and throw it" routine is more effective when it doesn't take you 10 minutes to get the bag out of the ground.

 

This guy has some work to do before he's ready for the big leagues. He has some potential though. The quote in the article about having Sears mannequins umpire the games was good.

Personally I liked the moving a batting screen in front of the umpires clubhouse door after he left the field. Then saying he went on ahead and called the league president to let him know what had happened.

He's not major league material yet, he can't even throw the base out of the infield. It wouldn have been better though if after he'd gotten home plate wet, he would've covered it back up to make it muddy.

This video is crazy. And for those of you who think the Cubs need a manager with more "fire", this is what you're missing.

My favorite is when he clears off the plate with the water bottle, mimics the catcher catching the ball and the umpire calling strike, then spikes the water bottle on the plate.

 

Absolutely classic.
