dfa. pierre has the worst swing I have ever seen.

His swing is really ugly. He doesn't even try to hit the ball so much as he flips the bat at it. His hitting fundamentals are consistently poor. When h does keep his shoulders and head on target with his hands back he does a nice job of hitting line drives the other way. Problem is he does it only 10-15% of the time.

I was thinking of that last night watching the 4 year old team my daughter is on. One kid came up and was just completely lost -- didn't know where to stand, how to hold the bat, helmet was over her eyes, etc. When they finally got her set, and I swear on my life, her swing reminded me of Juan Pierre. She was lunging backwards and making a feeble stab at the ball. Result? Soft grounder toward the pitcher's mound. She's 4, I expect that from her.

Not to be a jerk ripping on 4yo's or anything, but even if she'd "gotten a hold of one", wouldn't have still been probably a groundout to an infielder? Or am I underestimating the pop of a 4 year old?

I'm just sayin'. This girl happened to just get his whole swing down, and the ball she hit was hit rather weakly compared to a lot of the others. And with the extremely poor defensive play, some balls actually sneak through to the grass. Now I'm the jerk ripping on 4 year olds. Thanks!

Just stuff him in the 8 hole and let him rot. This is a very simple situation.

I agree, bat him 8th...if he gets on, the pitcher can bunt him over to second or third depending on if he steals a base...then he'll be knocked in by Walker...

It's too bad that she hits like Juan...but at least she can rest easy in the knowledge that she can still out-throw him. ;)

Ah, the silver lining. And she did beat the throw and eventually score, so she's got that going for her too.

Pierre takes pride in playing almost every game. The best way to get to him is bench him for a couple of games straight. That will get his attention.

I don't think they need to get his attention. I don't think it's a head issue. He's just not a good ballplayer. There's not much he can do about it.

Yeah he's just bad. I don't know how he ever achieved a .300 career BA with that hideous swing. Maybe he's lost a little speed. If so he's finished.

Doesn't he realize this is a contract season?

You've got it all mixed up. Players play for big contracts if the Cubs are stupid enough to give it to them, but once here they never live up to their billing.
