The day before the series against the Reds, I changed my computer's desktop wallpaper to a great picture of Carlos in full pitching glory making a rare appearance in the classic pinstripes. Ever since then, bam, the team's offense has come alive and Z has pitched his best game of the season.

Carlos in pinstripes, much like Todd Walker with a full beard, is something secretly banned by the baseball tribunal, as the dark and mysterious powers released would overwhelm and destroy all other teams. I pledge to tap into into this reservoir of awesome power carefully, and use it only for good.

So what silly superstitions do the rest of you have that "help" the Cubs win?

I haven't been watching much of the games. That always happens, that they win when I'm not watching. In 2003, for the entire September/October run, they would win easily when I couldn't watch the game, and they'd either lose or Borowski would give everyone a heart attack in the 9th when I did watch. Carlos had a no-hitter lastnight until I got online and noticed he had a no-hitter through 7. I had been out mountain biking with my g/f, and when we got home I went and looked at the score. As soon as I saw they didn't have any hits.....well, they got a hit.

I've always wondered what people's breaking points would be. Like, would I pay $10,000 for a World Series, yes. Etc...

When we were kids and had nothing better to do, my friend and I would stand up, arms extended up, when the Cubs had the other team down to their last out. If the Cubs were down to their last out, we would stand up and extend a middle finger at the TV.

Boy, were we strange...

If I was guaranteed a World Series for this year... I might not be able to resist paying any amount of money!

I have Cubs knick knack placed around my Cub room and office. If the Cubs are losing I turn them and adjust them. I have a new Cubs flag outfront of my house and touch it/adjust everyday for luck.

I'd be willing to wager my ex-wife for sure. I'll even pay for transport!

I was holding this fake plastic sword last night as I watched the game.

I'll be doing it again tonight.

The Cubs have had 3 come from behind wins this year when I'm working out using this big inflatable yoga ball-type-thingie. If the games get close, I'm busting it out again.

This isn't Cubs related...but the Bears team with all those crazy wins, I think it was 2003...I had a lucky chair. I'm not kidding they won every game I sat in it...and lost every game I wasn't in it. I had to go out of town for the playoff game and I was tempted to toss it in the car, but it was too big.

As for Zambrano last night...I was outside listening on the radio, and I came in for a minute, and while I was inside they got a hit.

Sorry Carlos.

Durng the Bulls first championship run (90-93), I watched each and every game in my parent's kitchen on a tiny, 12-inch t.v. I was convinced this was required to insure their success. When Pax hit the three that sealed the 3rd title (vs. the Suns), I jumped so high that I hit my head on the cealing. Good times.
