He was ahead 1-2 or 0-2 on just about everybody he faced and got a lot of close calls against him in strike out situations. There's nothing wrong with him; he's just in a slump, deadarm, whatever you want to call it.

When the Cubs put a little money into a closer they usually suck.

Just recently, JoBo, Alfy, Rojas. Hawkins wasn't brought in to close, but he was consider one of the best setup men in the game.

Are you CRAZY? None of those players were used as rarely as Dempster has been used in the last 25+ games. No closer would be consistant with inconsistant playing time.

Come on, Dempster's been in 11 of the last 25 games. That's very nearly every other game. Let's go easy on the hyperbole.... what do you say ?

Maybe a "tired arm" then. But I refused to believe that Dempster is done, until he proves he can't do anymore.

And I refused to believe this is nothing more then a slump right now. People needs to stop the "hyperbole" of Dempster being the next in the line of "failed closers." Dempster took the heat, for blowing the game, he knew it, and he didn't run from it (unlike Hawkins/Alf) and I respect him for it. He WILL return to formed, and people will be jumping right back on the Dempster bandwagon. (yes, I refused to spell it "the other way.")

Hey, hey, hardly anyone, if anyone at all is jumping on him here saying he's "done." Most of us are just concerned he might be injured. That doesn't mean he's finished.

If he is hurt or continues to be ineffective, we have the bullpen depth to replace him.

He had a hard time locating his pitches yesterday, and his velocity wasn't where it needs to be, but that's hardly reason to consider him done. He's logged a fair share of innings this year and may have hit a weak spell.

Yeah, that's certainly the impression a thread title that calls him "Dumpster" and suggests putting a fork in him gives.

Am I the only one that uses the Dumpster nickname affectionately and was using it last year for fun?

Hey, pal....you don't have ot be crazy to expect this loser Dempster to do his job. That is why is was signed and that is his job....period. If he can't do his job, fire his arse.
