Is it wrong that my level of desperation has reached Sammy Sosa levels? He split good against lefties last season, we have a right fielder who can't hit lefties to save his life, and a left fielder who could stand to have a few righties off at this point.

I wonder if Sammy would return as a part time player for a chunk of change.

Yes, I am that desperate to not suck...

Sammy for manager!

A well trained monkey for manager at this point...

Well trained? I think this team deserves an untrained monkey that sits in the dug out and slings poop at them every time they have a 1 or 2 pitch at bat. Could be a good motivational tool.

Q: Is it wrong that my level of desperation has reached Sammy Sosa levels?

A: Yes. Note no team has expressed an interest in Mr. Sosa because of his diminished skills and baggage. Beside the Cubs are enough of a circus without the return of the Gladiator.

No way, his ego is too big to settle for part-time player status.

Exactly. Or else he could already be playing for the almost-last-place Nationals instead of the soon-to-be-last-place Cubs.

There is no way Sosa would come back. He was treated like absoloute crap before he left. I dont think you could pay me enough to come back.

No. He'd become another Dusty Baker toy (unproductive veteren)

Considering Dusty and Sammy's last public conversation, I doubt this would be the case.

Agreed. He was smeared in the press by the Tribune Co. The only way Sammy ever steps foot in Wrigley again is as an opponent.

He's done forever unless he wants the all-time strikeout record.

He's only done because his ego won't allow him to be a part time player. His line against lefties last year, .288 .370 .471 .841, is more than good enough to earn himself a bench job or a platoon job. But I guess that wasn't good enough for Sammy...

Yeah. What a selfish SOB for not wanting to play at a level below what he feels he's capable. He ought to just stick around, jump from team to team and collect as many paychecks as possible while each year his stats get worse, the rotten lout. Why, I hope he gets hit by a car. That'll teach him to not play when he sucks!

An 841 OPS would rank Sammy what, the leading slugger on the Cubs right now? I'd much rather see Sammy swinging from the heels and occasionally sending one 450 feet than watching the deadbeats we have on the field right now. Sammy rules.

Sammy is not allowed back on the Cubs because he might actually hit a ball out of the infield.

And at the height of his career he actually took a few walks too. Can't have that.
