When all is said and done, Bonds probably would have been considered in the top 5-7 ballplayers ever without steroids. He now may end up the most infamous ballplayer ever.

I guess I'll post this here, just cause there's no need for another thread.

When he hit 714 the other night, what was the reaction like from the fans?

I think everybody agrees that Bonds would have been a surefire first ballot HOFer without steroids. Heck, even if you cut off his career after 1998 - before he started taking steroids - he would most likely have been a HOFer anyway.

I'd go for an even lower number because, in all likelihood, Bond's playing career (at least 6 years longer than his father's) has been extended by the juice and the increase in bat speed allows a hitter to no only hit the ball further, but also wait back on a pitch a little longer to make better contact.

I didn't see it (or care to see it for that matter), but from what I heard the reaction was mostly positive. But then again, they were playing in Oakland.
