Its pretty easy to hate this team. They're impatient ,make tons of mental errors, and really have seemed to accept losing. I have noticed for the last few seasons that they seem to blame others for their own failures. The media, umpires, announcers, fans.

1. Hard not to hate any team that (as of May 20) is hitting .127 with 2 outs and runners in scoring position. One freaking twenty seven. Good Lord.

2. I hate Dusty and all those who defend him.

3. I hate those who excuse Dusty on the basis of injuries. His teams have never played good fundamental baseball, and that has nothing to do with injuries.

4. I hate it when I see Cubs fans on tv (or in person at the game) who look completely delirious during Take Me out to the Ballgame when the Cubs are getting slaughtered. Yes, its fun to come and get drunk and sing the song, but please try to at least pretend to care about the result of the game.

5. Bob Brenly. Yes, he seems like a very nice guy, but I don't want an anouncer that is nice, especially not when watching this miserable team. I want someone who is angry and ornery, and who tells it like it is.

6. People who site last years Houston Astros comeback as a reason to be hopeful about the Cubs right now.

7. Money is no object Cubs fans who pay $100 or more for a bleacher seat to a game.

8. The same a-holes that leave after the 7th inning stretch, even though the game is still close.

9. All the Cubs hitters that have K/BB ratios of 3, 4 or 5 to one. (meaning most of them)

10. A coaching staff that for years has done nothing to change point number 9.

11. Cubs fans who thought that all this team needed was a new leadoff hitter and some better set up men. Those leading off for the Cubs this year (nearly always Pierre) have the lowest OBP in the league (.260), but even if this were not so, it was obvious that the Cubs needed a big bat in the middle of the order. (not Jacque Jones)

Ok, that's enough hatred for one day.

That '04 team has got to take the cake.

I'll throw '85 out there too, just for the sheer letdown of realizing '84 was a one-year affair.

The 04 team was loathsome based mostly upon personalities, and only partly based upon performance. This year's team is easy to hate mostly based upon (non) performance.

I never paid much attention to the Cubs up until 2003. (Keep in mind I'm only 17.) So last year was the first losing Cubs team I've ever put up with. This year's pathetic excuse for a team has got me really fed up.

Last year was an amazing success compared to 99, 00 and 02. Be very thankful you didn't have to watch Micah Bowie start.

Ugggggggggggggh. That brings back memories.

Suffered through 2000 and 2002.

Have yet to find a Cubs team that is really hate-able. But 2004 was surprisingly un-fun for an 89-win year. No one in the organization - fans, players, broadcasters, execs - was ready for the pressure of being pre-season WS favorites.

I don't hate this team. I actually very much like the team. I can't stand the front office, but I like all 8 regular position players (well, maybe not Juan) and I like all the pitchers. I want them to win. It sucks that they really aren't capable of doing it.

Good thing thats enough hatred for the day...if you had mentioned any other Cubs fans that you hated, I would start to think you were one of the outfielders.

This has been an interesting thread for me as my Mets' fan wife has been pretty unbearable this year about the states of our baseball teams and the constant, "why are you rooting for these guys?"

The sad thing is, even though I only see them in person a couple of times a year, this team has set some personal records for me:

2004 - First time I booed a Cubs player (Alou).

2005 - First time I left a game early (I went to eight Cubs' games last year (a record hi for me because they also played the Yankees), and they lost all 8. They never had a lead. The other teams "out stole" the Cubs 16-1. And the 1 was Maddux.

2006 - ??? I don't know, whats it going to be? Am I going to hope the Cubs' actually lose their games? Hopefully this will just be "first time I had the option to buy extra-innings and didn't."

This team is much more likeable than the 2004 version... although also much worse.

And at least as expensive. Injuries from freak accidents are one thing (e.g., Lee), but the ongoing saga of "when will X be ready"/"X has tweaked his _____" over the past couple of years has driven me nuts. The dynamic duo from 2003 should be sat in front of a TV to see a video of Barbaro from this past weekend, so they know what a REAL injury to a thoroughbred is.

NO $100 million team should suck this bad, especially not in the Central. I'd expect this level of performance (or, lack thereof) from a $33-50 mil team. I wish sinkholes would appear to swallow up 2/3 of the Cub outfield players. I've eaten 2 years plus of injury excuses, and I for one am fed up. These guys suck major wampum, so yeah, I'm pretty sick of them, especially at this price. This is a really crappy product for the dough that's been shelled out on some of them.

I didn't see Saturday's game, but I saw the lowlight reel. I was so disgusted that I thought about assembling all my Cubs gear and shipping it to Wrigley, postage due.
