Scott Taylor would seem to be getting skipped. And Mike Billek getting a start instead.

Is Taylor injured, or what?

Posted

nope, it just sounded like they didn't want to play too much havoc with the rotation - Taylor got skipped due to the couple of rainouts...

here's the article Nate wrote yesterday...http://www.peoriachiefs.com/news/?id=5781

Chiefs are up 4-1, Muyco with 2 rbi. bottom 4

Nate's description of baseball-pingpong had me laughing enough earlier that I missed who the champion ended up being! :D

good times, good times.

Taylor is fine. He is getting skipped because Mother Nature hates us. Back to back rain-outs and they werent going to screw up the whole rotation on 7 days rest. Taylor will jump back in on Tuesday at home. He threw a side yesterday after we were rained out and is the only one affected by the rainouts now instead of having 5 guys affected...

Peoria leads 4-2 in the 7th of the 1st game of 2. Atkins day is done going 5 innings, allowing 8 hits, but only 2 runs, 2 BB's, and 3 K's. Garcia and Muyco have both driven in a pair today.

Hey Nate, how does Justin Upton look?

Very good. Quick bat. very fast base runner. We havent tested him in center yet. He glides after the ball in the outfield and makes it look effortless. Took a walk here in game two on a 3-1 borderline pitch instead of being over-aggressive with 1st and 2nd and no outs.

some updates:

Peoria down 7-3 in the bottom of the 3rd of game 2. Billek didn't see the end of the 1st inning as he gave up 6 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks in just 2/3's of an inning.

Daytona leads 2-1 in the 5th.

West Tenn leads 1-0 in the 3rd on Scott Moore's 5th homer of the year.

Iowa down 3-1 in the 3rd. Pie walked his first AB and Restovich homered for Iowa's lone run. Valdes has gave up 2 homers that has accounted for all 3 of Salt Lake's runs.

Peoria loses game 2, 7-3.

Daytona leads 3-2 in the 8th.

West Tenn up 2-0 in the bottom of the 6th. EPatt hit his 4th homer of the year and Marmol has thrown 5 innings of 2 hit ball, including 8 K's :)

Iowa down 7-1 in the bottom of the 6th.

Daytona wins 9-2. Alan Rick hit another homer, a 3 run shot in the 9th. Berg finally gets his first W of the season.

Scott Moore hit his 2nd homer of the game to give the Jaxx a 3-0 lead. Marmol threw 6 2/3 innings of 3 hit ball, only walking 1, and striking out 11. Atlee came in to throw 1 1/3 innings of perfect ball.

Iowa loses 8-2. Deardorff homered accounting for Iowa's 2nd run. Pie finished 1/3 with a double, a walk, and a K.

*Sighs*

Another gem in the Diamondbacks' system. The number of incredibly talented positional players that system has is simply unreal.

Jaxx win 3-0. Marmol, Atlee, and Rapada combine for a 3 hit shutout. Scott Moore's 2 solo shots and Patterson's solo shot was enough for the pitching tonight :)

Carlos Marmol's numbers on the year now...

42.1 IP, 33 H, 0 HR, 19 BB, 50 K, 2.55 ERA

Strength to strength. Absolute dominance, more so than at any point in his career before really, but the walks are still an issue.

If anyone's seen him lately, how's his changeup looking?

Me and Tim had seats a couple to few rows behind home plate. That night he was having some tremendous control with his pitches and all of his pitches were very impressive.
