Pathetic. Like the article says, make a lefty BP pitcher position for 30 grand a year. You won't have too much trouble filling the spot.

What the hell is Rusch signed for? He sure looks like a LH BP pitcher to me...

This is true. If it comes a game where we need both Rusch and Ohman to pitch, we're screwed anyway. Let them alternate pitching batting practice.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Can you imagine how many emails the Cubs are getting this very moment from left-handed guys who pitched in college and high school? I wish I fit that description because I'd love to be a BP pitcher in the big leagues.

But dude, Glendon has saved the Cubs from having to call a "productive" pitcher up...oh wait....

Glendon is the DEFINITION of batting practice. We already have two lefties in the pen (Ohman/Eyre) and the Cubs already have two lefties in the rotation (Hill/Marshall), so that leaves Rusch without a job. The BP pitcher role is his...by definition....but hold on....

Who would win: the Cubs offense or Glendon Rusch? :-k

here is the beauty of the situation. we have struggled with lefties for a couple years so in the offseason we add...

pierre, mabry and jones, lefties

can someone tell me why we didn't sign reggie sanders? we had to be able to get him for at least what kc paid him!

i know our big 2 bats(or 3 if you count barrett) are right handed but rarely do you have righties that struggle against righties. not to mention that your best utility bat off the bench is a lefty( no not neifi-mabry)

you have to have pierre but against a tough righty you could throw out mabry, neifi plus walker and pierre. not too bad because you know aram, barrett and lee would be playing every single day regardless. so you would have murton or sanders playing against a tough righty...i think they would be ok.

What is the Cubs' e-mail address? I'd like to add my name to the list.

After reading this article, I'm ticked off at my father for forcing me to learn to throw right-handed as a little tyke even though I was a natural lefty.

I'd quit my job tomorrow to throw BP for the rest of the summer. Although, I'd probably get fired when I attempted to share my opinions with Dusty. I don't think my patience at the plate (don't get yourself out on the pitcher's pitch early in the count) would go over too well with that coaching staff.

I think the problem is more with soft tossing junkballers than hitting lefties. It just so happens that a lot of these lefties are junk pitchers. June pitchers rely on fooling hitters into hitting their pitch, and swinging at pitches out of the zone. They have success when they frustrate overly aggressive hitters.

This has been a problem for years now.

Mike North this morning said that they were going to be having "tryouts" outside somewhere (I forget exactly where) for a LH BP pitcher. They were going to have Steve Stone there to help evaluate, and they were going to try to get the winner in contact with the Cubs.

Hell yeah, do it! It'd be awesome to have a Cubs BP pitcher be a regular poster at NSBB.

That makes complete sense. How are you supposed to get better at hitting lefties when you don't see them that often? Please hire a lefty BP pitcher Jim Hendry.
