Just a reminder, the Jaxx game will be picked up in progress following the election return coverage. We should be on somewhere after 8 p.m. CDT.

Just out of curiousity, have the broadcasts sounded okay to this point??

The ones I've listened to have sounded fine (including the one with Tim last Friday).

yep they have sounded real good, Ron. The techincal gaffes were kind of annoying, but it seems like they have fixed that lately. Keep up the good work Ron!

I forgot to mention last night that I visited with Deene Ehlis last night. In the conversation, we talked about NSBB. Unfortunately, Deene had not heard of the site but said that he planned to check it out once he has a chance. He also said he'd enjoy doing a Q & A.

Veal has scattered 6 walks over 4+ inning before getting lifted. In keeping with his profile as an extreme fly-ball pitcher, he got 1 groundout in 4.2 innings. I can't ever recall any Cub prospect, or any other pitcher for that matter, who gets so few outs on the ground.

While the utter lack of groundball stuff and the characteristic wildman stuff is negative, not all the Veal news is bad. He allowed just one single and zero runs in 4.2, and notched 9 strikeouts.

Not often a guy will rack up 15 K+BB in 4.2 innings!

No score after 5.

Pie is down to .275.

Iowa ties Nashville at 1 in the 4th on an RBI single by Soto scoring The Riot.

Iowa now down 8-1 in the bottom of the 8th. Valdes (4 ER in 4.1), Brownlie (2 ER in 0.2), O'Malley (1 ER in 1) and Shipman (1 ER in 0.2 IP so far) have all given up runs, while Emanuel had a shutout inning. Right now, there are 2 outs in the 8th with 2 on and Mike Rivera is due up against Andy Shipman. Felix Pie is down to .272.

The Jaxx are down 1-0 in the 6th. Chris Walker's single and Luis Montanez' walk represent the only two baserunners the Jaxx have had so far.

Peoria and SW Michigan are scoreless going into the 9th. Koerber (in his 2006 debut) and Billek have continued Veal's shutout.

Is that the former Diamond Jaxx pitcher that just drilled Moore in the head?

Yep, thanks Ron.

Jaxx up 3-1 in the bottom of the 8th. Moore sounds to be ok.

Ron said Moore was mad when Rohlicek hit him - what was his reaction (sorry, I missed it while watching the Bulls choke)?

Clay Rapada gives up a 3-run HR to blow the save. :( 4-3, Huntsville leads it.

5/2 Daytona Cubs Digest -- Thanks, Derek!

Greetings Daytona Cubs Nation!

Hope as usual that all is well in Cubsland. The Cubs have a much

needed day off today after our first six game road trip of the season. The

road trip did not start off how we wanted it to against the Palm Beach

Cardinals. We lost game one by seven runs, and then played well in

games two and three which both ended up being extra inning affairs.

Unfortunatly for us we dropped each of the extra inning affairs and Palm

Beach got away with a three-game sweep. One of the highlights during thePalm Beach series was Cubs infielder/outfielder Issmael Salas coming in to pitch in game three of the series, unfortunatly for Salas he's going

to have to stick to hitting and fielding as he walked away with the

loss!

Our second series was against Jupiter, a team we had swept earier this

season. Daytona took two of three against the Hammerheads with the

first two games being extremely close and then game three being a Cubs

blowout. After having off the first two games of the Jupiter series for

rest, Ryan Harvey was in game three and did not dissappoint, driving in

three runs in the 10-4 blowout. Catcher Jake Fox was three for for in

the third game and has continued his hot hitting while raising his

average to .345 on the season. One point of interest is that catcher Olin

Wick hit his first professional home run last week and has improved his

average to .250.

The Cubs return home for a four game series in three days against the

Vero Beach Dodgers. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday starting at 6:05 to make up a game that was rained out two weeks ago in Vero Beach. As always Thursday is "Thirsty Thursday" sponsored by Red Tail Bar & Grill so you'll have a chance to see two games and enjoy the benefits of "Thirsty Thursday" during both of them! Thursday is also Christopher Bean Coffee Giveaway #1 and Friday is team photo giveaway night where the first 1000 fans get a team photo. Friday will also be autograph night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, a time where you the fan will have an opportunity to get autographs from the Cubs star players!

I hope you can make it out to the park this week, but if you can't,

remember to listen in locally at 1380 AM or on our website at

http://www.daytonacubs.com!

Enjoy your week and as always call or write with any questions!
