From my email inbox this AM...

Dear Season Ticket Holder,

That’s right, you read the subject correct, Kerry Wood may pitch once again this season in Peoria. Nothing is confirmed, but a story in the Chicago Sun-Times on Saturday stated that Kerry Wood might be in Peoria on Sunday, May 7th for a rehab assignment...

Again, Kerry Wood’s or the Cubs schedule could change. Certainly everyone would be thrilled to see Kerry at O’Brien Field again this year and we want to make sure your ticket needs are honored first. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Thanks again for being a Chiefs supporter and we look forward to seeing you this summer at O’Brien Field!

Ryan Sivori

Box Office Manager

O'Brien Field and the Peoria Chiefs

Who knows what will come of this, but we can hope, right?

Happy Monday all :)

Karen

I'm hoping he makes that 5/7 start with the DJaxx in Jackson, Mississippi.

I'd be there for that!

The Cubs have made it a point to have the rehab assignment at an affiliate that is playing at home. That's not always 100%, but it usually works out that way.

From a business perspective, this makes the most sense.

You can buy season tickets for minor league teams?

Absolutely! Most of the season-ticket holders for the Chiefs are businesses that buy a block of box seats or a full/partial suite. There are many fewer of us individual types that hold season tickets. The Chiefs also do 1/2 season packages and 10-15 game packs too...we've been working our way up over the years!

This business support makes a huge difference in the scheme of things - for instance, last night we had an announced attendance of a bit more than 1800 even though there were probably less than 1000 that actually showed.

Just took a look at the Diamond Jaxx site, and field box seats are just $400 for the season - that's considerably less than we pay here in Peoria.

High Schools even sell season tickets now, so you knwo the minor leagues are in on the act.

Man, we didn't even charge to get into our games at my high school. Of course, that would've been impossible considering the way it was laid out, but still, I remember going to districts and knowing it was a big deal cause people had to pay to see us.

My parents have had the same season tickets since I was in fifth grade. As people next to us have moved or changed seats, my mom and dad have bought up the extras. We now have eight seats on the same row about even with the 40 yard line. These will come in handy in about four years when my nephew starts playing.

Tell your parents they're getting ripped off. I've never paid to attend a HS game.

In HS we had to pay for an "activity" pass if we wanted to get into sporting events for free. Otherwise there was a charge. Parents paid.

Sounds like Vance is talking about Football, which makes alot more sense since HS football is a pretty big deal.

p.s. sports are so unsupported at my college (Div. 1 even) that they are free for students.

My college didn't even have tickets for football games. Granted, they'd probably have lost to a good high school team.

Oh, high school football. I think there's something like that at our school, but there's not so much demand that it's really necessary.

I imagine if you looked at your tuition bill closely, you'd see an "athletic fee" or something like that. The top 10% or so of colleges sell out, the rest don't. I attended two smaller schools and worked for two schools athletic departments, and this was the case at every one.

The "athletic Fee" guarantess student admission to all school athletic events, which would cause an incredible problem if everyone showed up. However, since they don't, it's a way to raise money for the athletic departments that is very effective.

Well, it's also a 3 hour roundtrip(according to mapquest) from U of I to Peoria.
