The Broncos are so masterfully run, Jazz. How Shanahan keeps getting great years out of the backs w/o Alex Gibbs, I'll never know. His managing of the salary cap is top notch as well. They'd be fools to get rid of him in the not to distant future. And he's also an awesome guy. Did an interview with me in high school for a piece I was doing in our school newspaper about past athletes. He was very gracious with his time.

So, I sit around anxiously waiting to find out where my buddies Greenway and Hodge will end up, hoping one of them will somehow miraculously end up in Indy with Bob Sanders. Now, it should be known that while I am a Falcons fan, I grew up in a Bears home. There are 2 teams in the NFL that I flat-out hate: Vikings and Packers. Where to Greenway and Hodge go?

Cubs suck.

I've said it before, I'll say it again a lot:

Our front office kicks ass. There's really no reason why Carolina shouldn't win the South this year and at least get back to the NFC title game with the roster they've assembled.

Bears get their tight end: Tim Day from Oregon.

Draft Exchange Analysis:

Marcedes Lewis may be the best receiving Tight End, Vernon Davis may be the most athletic, and Leonard Pope might be the biggest, but Tim Day is the most balanced. Tim Day has all the tools necessary to be successful at the next level, size (6’4” 265 lbs) speed (4.7 40 time) and strength (390 lb bench, 505 lb squat). While Day has the potential and talent to be a great Tight End, he has been slowed down his college career by minor injuries (should injury in 2003, foot injury in 2004). He also hasn’t produced like Marcedes Lewis, Vernon Davis, and Leonard Pope have. Despite all this, I still feel that his talent and potential is too great to be ignored, and in the right system, can flourish. Tim Day will be best fit with a team that needs a good Tight End that can block and catch well, a team seeking balance.

Didnt do as well last year under Crowtons offense. I think we can all relate to Crowton jokester offense.

Dusty is the guy that bashed his friends face in with a baseball bat and got kicked off the team for a year.

What the hell? details plz.

It was a baseball bat?

http://students.ou.edu/D/Dusty.R.Dvoracek-1/

I'm reading quotes on message boards talking about the bats, and have also seen quotes saying there was no bat involved in the incident. Either way, the story is he beat a friend unconscious.

anybody with Insider feel like sharing what grade Mel Kiper gave the Bears for the draft?

He gave them a B.

He reacted positively to just about every move they made. He talked at length about Dusty, and seemed to like both DBs a lot.

He really likes Angelo, it seems. Last year he gushed about the Bradley pick and gave us an A for the draft, as I recall.

As opposed to Dr. Z, who has hated the Bears for years, and really has a problem with Angelo for never returning his calls since coming to Chicago.

The AFC South is pretty competitive. I wouldn't count your chickens before they're hatched. Tampa Bay had the number one D in the NFL last year, Atlanta has a history of success against the Panthers, and the Saints added a TON of talent with Breese and Bush. The Panthers are the best team, but it's going to be a dog fight to come out of that division.

Ummm....The defending NFC Champion, NFL MVP and the team that absolutely DOMINATED Carolina in the championship game might have something to say as to why no one mentioned them in this conversation.

I mean really, the SAINTS? I can't wait for the Seahawks to go 13-3 again and watch all the critics look at each other and say Who is this team again? Hassellback (Best NFC WB rating last 2 years), Alexander (NFL MVP and TD record holder), Julien Peterson & Lofa Tatapu patroling the middle of the field, Grant Wistrom coming around the end and D Jack and Burleson going deep. BTW, they also drafted the best punter available. He is a guy that kicks 80 yard kickoffs

I think this might be a team to consider.

They were talking about the NFC South, and the comment about making the NFC title game(as last year obviously proves) doesn't mean they've already gone through Carolina.

FJM[/url]"]Sorry folks, non-baseball stuff.

Mel Kiper Jr's draft grades are in, for every team in the NFL.

For those who don't have ESPN Insider, every single grade is between a C and a B+. It's the old "on a scale of 4 to 7" spectrum. Thanks Mel! See you in 363!
