and that is why the texans are not even close to a winning franchise. pass up the most explosive and talented offensive player to come around in a long, long time......just stupid.

It's not a given that Bush is going to be a star in the league. Remember that LenDale White, not Bush was the best USC running back in the Rose Bowl. Bush wasn't able to rely on just his speed to get past the Texas defence which was the first defense close to a pro level in terms of speed that Bush faced last year. Could I see Bush being one of the greatest running backs of all time? Yes. But is that a guarantee? Absolutely not. I could just as easily see him being an average running back and a return specialist. Every pro team has speed on defense because generally you have to be fast to play defense in the NFL. Bush being a fixture at the Pro Bowl is most definately not a sure thing.

I have to agree with you about Bush. To me, Bush didn't seem like a right fit for the Texans considering they have a pretty good RB (be it injury prone) in Dom Davis. I think the guy that made sense for the Texans though was Dbrickshaw Ferguson. They must be really high on Mario Williams though.

Keep it and take whichever of Leinert or Young is still on the board. You could trade Rodgers and the 2nd-round pick for a lower 1st rounder. Or you could keep Rodgers and still take a talented player early in the 2nd round.

Is giving up Javon Walker worth just 3 spots in the draft? I know he wants out, but it seems like we could get more. Getting Javon Walker AND the 5th pick in the draft would mean the Saints made out like bandits.

I'm sorry, I find this to be a bit ridiculous. I like Walker as a receiver and think he could be a good WR. However, between his disgruntled status in Green Bay, his contract demands, and the fact that he's recovering from a serious knee injury which has derailed a number of once promising offensive players, I just don't see him being worth a first rounder...or possibly even a high second rounder.

Pick value in the Top 5 is absolutely insane. Cripes, Cleveland once (stupidly) forked over a high second rounder just to get Kellen Winslow Jr. one pick earlier. Look at what the Chargers got two years ago from the Giants, who traded up from 4 to 1 essentially (the #4, a third rounder, the next year's first rounder, and the next year's fifth rounder).

Considering that the Saints will have the pick of the litter with trade options (and you just know some one is going to get infatuated with Bush), I don't think the #5 and Javon Walker will do the trick.

I'm unsure what Rodgers' trade value is given his limited playing time in the NFL and salary structure. Something tells me it might not be much.

I'm hearing rumors that the Saints are talking about trading the pick to the Jets for the Jets' two first round picks.

I heard this too but the Saints also want the jets 3rd rounder. they talked about that system of points or whatever and it said that is what moving up 2 spots from #4 to #2 is. Call me crazy be 'sliding' down 2 spots sure seems worth it to get another pick around the late 20's without the 3rd rounder. Hell you might even get the guy at #4 you wanted and get to pay him less because of his draft slot. Also teams that are drafting that high need a lot of positions its not like they should be only targeting one player.

I love draft day, even if only one PSU player is projected to go on the first day (Tamba Hali, late 1st/early 2nd round). Michael Robinson and the rest are all 2nd day guys if not free agents...

The Texans not picking Bush was one of the worst moves I have ever seen. Horrrible horrible decision. At least trade out of that spot. If I was a Texans fan, I'd be livid.

If Williams is a bust, this move may end up being compared to the Sam Bowie (sp?) pick in '84

Damn you! Too fast.

Yeah, so basically the Texans pass on the best football prospect in the last 20 years because they have D. Davis. Awful.

What a terrible decision by Houston. It's never a good idea to pass up the guy who can touch the ball 20-30 times a game to take the guy who, if he's a success, might impact 5-10 plays a game.

Playing devil's advocate, look at the draft where the Twins took Mauer over Prior for financial reasons. Everybody thought Prior was best pick but Mauer has turned out to be the best pick. Hopefully the Packers don't move up to take Bush. If I were them, I def. would. I think he'll end up a Jet though.

I don't know that Mauer has been proven to be the best pick. Prior had the great 2003, and then injuries set in. Mauer missed some time due to injuries as well.

You'd be better off arguing that Texiera has been the most productive of the 3 top picks.

I'm so glad I'm not an NFL exec. I'd be pulling my hair out.

Also, because baseball is the sport I'm most knowledgeable about. I don't think any NFL teams would want to hire a baseball guy.

Lets get this thing started already....

Houston better not take 15 minutes to go to the podium. Even 2 minutes will piss me off.

I'm sort of curious how a team can sign a player pre-draft when they don't have the rights to the player yet. Is it only the team with the #1 overall pick who can do this?

I guess the Saints are prepared to take Reggie Bush now. Don't know if trade talks are still on, but it looks like they'll take Bush if they can't trade the pick.

I can't believe the NY Jets wouldn't try everything they could to get that pick from NO and take Bush...

This makes things very, very interesting.

The Saints might take that pick and trade it. Do they still have McAllister?

Young, not Leinert, is rumored to be taken by the Titans now. If Leinert falls to #5, I'd love to see the Packers take him and trade Rodgers for a pick or two. Wonder how high of a pick we'll get for Walker if that Denver rumor is true.

I hope DeAngello Williams is still there in the 2nd round. Ahman Green is just about done, IMO.

This is why I'm not a football GM.

If DeAngelo gets past Carolina at #27 (especially if they choose LenDale White instead), I will light myself on fire.

What if Carolina took Laurence Maroney from Minnesota?

I would be alright with Maroney. I look at him as the safe pick.

I trust Marty Hurney, though. His last five first-round picks are all still producing and producing well for the current team (Morgan, Peppers, Gross, Gamble, T. Davis)

Maybe they are trying and they're trying to hammer something out.

It'll be interesting to see.
