So I have to ask, am I the only one who thinks that the Red Sox draft was absolute garbage?

I absolutely loved the Hagadone pick and I hope you guys can't sign Dent (:)) but he's a good pick too. I'm just surprised the Red Sox weren't all over the local boy in Harvey.

Maybe it tells you something other than money bothered clubs about Havey?

Detwiler is a good kid, he'll do well in Washington. Talk about a high riser though. The guy barely made Team USA (he was literally the last guy taken) and now he's #6 overall.

Vitters’ signing with the Cubs with the third overall pick is expected to be a formality, as are most others in the first round. But things are not as certain with Moustakas and the Royals with the No. 2 selection.Kansas City is not expected to go above slot (reportedly $3.15 million) to sign Moustakas, but the California high school infielder is being advised by agent Scott Boras, and Boras has rarely complied with signing his clients for slot money.

New York and Boston , in particular, have shown a reluctance to abide by the commissioner’s office’s recommendation on bonus slotting more than any clubs in recent drafts, ostensibly because they contribute more money to baseball’s central fund through excessive revenue sharing. As a result, they have become more defiant and less willing to toe the line when being told how to allocate their resources on talent procurement—particularly as they have provided significant revenues for other clubs to sign their draft picks.

Sounds like Wieters is headed back to Georgia Tech.

I hope KC signs Moustakas, he's commited to USC. :( Oh, and...don't sign with the Red Sox, Ryan Dent!

Seriously? Well, I hope the Cubs either make the playoffs or tank the rest of the season.

I think it's time to be as jealous with the Tigers as one is with the Red Sox and Yankees.

$7.7 million big league contract for Porcello.:shock::shock::shock: Plus they have two other above-slot deals set.

Talking about how everyone was upset with the slotting process. MLB is angry that so many teams ignored the slotting suggestions, but waited for the final few days to announce those signings. Teams that blindly adhered to slotting were upset when other teams drafted and signed premium talent over slot. And players and agents were upset that slotting was arbitrarily set at 10% of last year's slotting figures.

Baseball is flush with cash like never before, and it's a lot less expensive to compete with the Yankees for draft talent than to fight them for major league free agents.

MLB has yet to explain why it's OK for the Royals to spend $4 million on Mark Grudzielanek but unacceptable for them to do the same for Mike Moustakas, who will have more long-term impact on the franchise.

There's no solution to this until the current CBA runs out in 2011.
