i don't think his hitting style fits the 2 hole with Pierre leading off. he spoils a lot of pitches and doesn't take many. it's pretty hard to nab a bag when that happens.

It's pretty hard for Pierre to nab a bag when Dusty has Cedeno bunting almost every AB.

true dat.

it just reminds me of neifi batting in the 2 hole, fouling off pitch after pitch with pierre green lighted, looking to nab a bag. not cool.

I think that was revenge for Eck's attempted takeout of Walker.

Also, I lolled at the replay of Barrett saying, "Whoa! My bad!"

Probably Guzman time pretty soon, although I'd rather see Maddux get a couple quick innings in.

:D

Uh no! No Gooz today please. I want our experienced quality bullpen people today. If they blow the lead at least do it with the best.

Seconded

But we used Williamson, Eyre and Howry yesterday to hold the -3 run lead.

Sometimes you just have to use that pen with the same guys no matter what the score is. :-k

Why....I don't have a clue.

Well, it's now 7 to 0. I don't mind bringing in Guzman but coming in it was merely 4-0

I'd rather see the kid come in at the beginning of an inning then with the bases juiced.

Give: Ramirez starts the year slowly.

BeerPrediction: He starts hitting a little, some singles an occasional xbh. May arrives and some of those singles are now double's. June arrives and the ball is jumping off his bat.

I really believe Ronny is a better choice to bat 2nd than Neifi...by a wide margin. :D

For all the crap we've gone through the last week and a half, for the Cubs to possibly be able to squeeze out a 5-4 road trip going into a Marlins/Brewers/Pirates home stand would be huge for this team.

Thompson fooled Bare badly on strike three. Bare accidentally let go of his bat in his swing, which went careening towards Thompson and seemed headed to short had Thompson not knocked it down with his glove.

The only guy that would be worse in the 2 hole than Neifi is Jones.

ronny is not a 2 hole hitter.

Baker believes that only CF, 2B and SS's can hit 1st or second. I do think Ronny could be a decen 2 though.

we could have had men at 3rd and 2nd. with a Cedeno double, that's 2 runs, not 1. just a little more patience early in the count.

I have to admit I haven't seen a lot of Cub games lately but Ronny was fine in his pitch selection last year near the end before he got hurt.

It's not really a matter of pitch selection. It's willing to put yourself behind in the count (potentially) b/c you're taking a few pitches. Ronny is not a great 2 strike hitter. He really expands the zone. Maybe he's learned to get away from that by swinging early at stuff that looks good. That's not bad, but it's not what you want in the 2 hole with a premiere basestealer on 1st.

There is no comparison b/n Cedeno and Neifi. One is hitting .370, the other .208. If Cedeno keeps hitting doubles and triples, I could care less if he does it on the first pitch!

I like Ronny in the 2 hole.

No doubt. Neifi belongs in the 8 spot or on the bench.

Barret reached for a low pitch and flung the bat at thompson. the bat actually went past the pitchers mound. Thompson had to jump up out of the way
