Anyone else see this on cubs.com? They're going to have a "garage sale" where you can buy old bricks from wrigley, flags, etc.

If there is anything there reasonable (I don't know, how much are they going to sell a damn brick for?), something in the 30 buck range or so, and someone is going and willing to pick me something up and work out a mailing, you'd have a new friend! Just private message me if anyone might be able to.

There's gonna be a ton of stuff from that sale to find its way on ebay

I'd like to see those of us on the board here have a buy/sell thread for the stuff in the garage sale. I wouldn't mind getting a brick, if someone's willing to pick one up for me, I'd pay cost plus postage plus a little honorarium for the trouble.

Does anyone have a list of everything that'll be on sale? I wish I were in Chicago to be there.

I just talked to my brother today and we are thinking of driving to Chicago Sat. morning. It's a couple hour drive. I am just not sure my sister in law will be thrilled about it. Two years ago we came home with a couple of the stadium seats and she did not looked pleased.

I just returned from the Wrigley garage sale and it looks like it was a huge success. The doors opened at 8 a.m. and I got there around 10, so much of the good stuff was gone by then.

The saddest thing I saw were a box of signed balls. The signers? Kevin Orie, Ismael Valdez and Bobby Hill. The price for each? $6 marked down from $20. Too bad for them.

The only purchas I made was buying a brick from the old bleachers. The only proof that I didn't get hosed is a little holographic MLB sticker. So now I have a brick that I don't know what to do with.

But the coolest part of the sale was the fact that they had the bleachers open for a free tour. I gotta say they looked dynamite. Nice concources and the seats looked good.

Any other successes?

Hehe I can think of several players and coaches I'd like to add to that garage sale list, I'm just not sure anyone would buy them.

There will be stuff going up on EBay all day long. Some of the team flags from Wrigley are already on there.

Can we ask how much a brick set you back?

An MLB authentication sticker? Is it one of the stickers you look up on MLB.com?

Here is a brick already on sale at E-Bay. It is a $100 buy it now auction (not much of an auction since you can only buy it now). Seems a bit steep to me but it does include the MLB authenticated hologram deal so it might be worth it.

Yes, but the code is BB (same as the stamp put on your hand if you leave the bleachers to go to another part of the park during a game) and they don't have that code up yet at mlb.

I'm enthusiastic that they're authenticated. It's good to see the effort on something so historic. Any way of knowing how many were sold?

i was there too...it was a huge success for the cubs, not so much for the fans, unless you were first in line. i got there at 8am, and did not get to the memoribilia area till after standing in line for 45 mins....there was nothing really good left....all the bases were gone, bats gone, good flags gone, good jeresys gone...and the stuff left was not cheap $150 for a koronka jersey....but i did get a brick for $25 so i guess it was not a total loss. i was talking to a guy in line he was in the second group in, he said that people were just grabbing everything.... i think they should have had limits, so everyone would get a chance for the good stuff....

oh well....at least i got a brick!!

not sure, but you could buy upto 50 bricks...

$25 for an authenticated brick from Wrigley is absolutely amazing.

To put things in perspective, MLB has the W flag from the opening day win against the Cards. It was pushing $600 the last time I checked.

If you wanted to order more than 50, they asked you to fill out a form -- and pay, of course -- then pick up your bricks on May 8 from 10-8pm.

ETA: so I'd guesstimate at least a few thousand bricks will be sold.

I saw a couple of guys walk out holding stacks of stadium flags that they had bought.

Want to thank Daske for picking up a brick for me, that was insanely nice of you man! It might seem weird to the lucky bastards who settled into Chi-town, but for a guy who grew up between 50 mile stretches of corn fields, hehe, saying "I own a piece of Wrigley Field" is something I'll be proud of for a long time to come! Just to imagine the history.

i asked the people working there, and they said the bases were gone in 10 mins, would have been sooner, but they could not write them up that fast. the cub flags and "W" flags gone within 15 mins. bats gone within 30 mins....i dont mean to sound like a baby, but i would have been nice to see some other ppl walk away with a stadium flag, not guys with armfuls...

dont get me wrong, its a great idea, but it could have been handled better IMO

I have heard that the Cubs Convention ends up the same way in that there's a race to the clubhouse store and everything gets bought and posted on ebay. I haven't seen a lot on ebay, just some bricks and a jersey or two.

They should have had a 1 per person limit on the desirable stuff for the first two hours or so. After that, anything left you can have as much as you want.

since i spent 1/2 the day there to get a brick, it would have been smarter for me to just get it off the 'bay....which i would have hated to do....

A couple behind me drove over 6 hours from someplace in Ohio to get a few bricks. The line was amazing.

Yes ... it was a little unsettling to see a few people carting off armloads of stuff, some of which at least I assume will be resold. Especially after talking to people who were so pleased to have the opportunity just to buy a brick. :D I wasn't planning on buying anything other than a couple of bricks ... which is a good thing, because I wouldn't have ended up with anything, anyway.
