Wonder if someone at BA will take notice now that he's dominating at AA.

he is dominating but daytona is high A. he should be going to AA soon i would think with perhaps marmol going to iowa. in that case, it might be the end of brownlie with the cubs.

I think you are jumping the gun a little. There isn't a need to move guys around yet after just the 3rd time thru the rotation. I think at the 10 start mark you may see some moves, and that's provided Marmol and Gallagher keep dominating. Gallagher was more dominant to start last year and stayed in Peoria all year. Marmol was dominant, and started 10 times in Daytona.

And I don't think Brownlie is just gonna be tossed aside. He will at least finish the year in the organization.

Brownlie = bust? Maybe, but Montanez has to be a bigger bust in my mind.

Yeah, Brownlie's a bust. I still think he could be a ML'er, though. Definitely not somebody that should be dropped.

Just got home from the Daytona game. I had a blast though it was kids day and the park was full of screaming elementary kids. Every 2 innings they played the Spounge Bob square pants song and all the kids sang at the same time, it was frightening. Also they were handing out these long plastic horns, adding to the noise. I also sat beside a 60 year old lady that had life time season tickets, apparently a few years ago they did a promotion where if you got a Daytona Cubs tattoo you got a life time seat (of your choosing) with your name plate on it. She didnt even know the name of most of the players but she rambled on and on about the games she had been to and the different promotions ect.

So needless to say it was hard to follow the game at times. Pitch regognition was difficult for me from my seat behind and slightly to the left of home plate 2 rows back. I did get a chance to talk to Grant Johnson who was with a few other guys, that I assume were D Cubs pitchers as well. He was charting pitches and had a radar gun. I asked about Gallagher's fastball, which accoarding to Johnson was in the low 90s the whole game, I dont think his fastball droped bellow 90 (I watched the radar gun for half an inning myself) Grant confirmed that Gallagher is throwing the slider and I did see him throw quite a few, they looked pretty good. The HR was on a hanging curve. He threw a handful of really good curves but stuck mostly to fastballs and sliders. Gallagher has a stocky build but he's not over wieght, his body type is somewhat like Kerry Wood's, he looks strong and in good shape.

Some other notes, Fox looked really good, he was playing as DH today and had a double a single and a BB, at least thats how I have it scored I may have missed an atbat in the 9th. The Mets bulpen was horrible. D Cubs bulpen was solid Hunton had a 1-2-3 8th and I was impressed with Mendez's 9th, he had 2 Ks and struck one guy out on 3 pitches. I didnt get a gun reading on Mendez but he seemed to be throwing some serious heat.

The umps were horrible, I think there were 3 or 4 times when the managers came out to argue a call, and the homeplate umps strike zone seemed pretty generous. I guess these were scab umps since the minor league umps are on strike. There were only 2 umps a home plate and one behind 2nd, I have never been to a minor league game, is this pretty typical?

Ryan Harvey was sporting a sad peach fuz mustache. He had a good at bat in the first when he actually took a few pitches and worked the count other wise he hacked away.

I really had a blast I wish there were more 10:30 home games as I dont see myself being able to do a night game (3 hor drive). I may catch some out of town games later this summer.

Let's give something else away tonight. How about a Jaxx Program and pocket schedule to someone tonight to a random NSBB user that posts in this thread at any point during the broadcasts.

For the record, the program features Ribbee, The Riot and Murton in their Jaxx uniforms. The pocket schedule has Murton featured in Jaxx and Cubs uniforms with Wrigley in the background.
