I feel like a complete idiot for this but...I'm pretty excited for the prospect of getting Wood, Prior and Miller in the rotation. The rational side of me wants me to punch myself in the face repeatedly but I'm the perpetual optimist as a sportsfan. I can't help myself.

If you want me to, I'll come over and punch you in the face. You only live about 2 blocks away I think.

Oh nose! You know where I live! LOCK THE DOORS LOCK THE DORRS!!!

If you do, make sure to tape it and post it on youtube for us to enjoy.

He threw over 200 innings in 2002 and 2003. He hasn't been healthy in 2004-2005. We'll have to see if he's finally back to form. But it's not like he's never had a 200 inning season. He has. Twice. Back to back.

Also, we would have never been in the NLCS in 2003 if it weren't for Wood. That game five in Atlanta was masterful.

93 Starts between 2001-2003.

I love Wood. I hope that he comes back as healthy as ever and finally becomes the pitcher we all expected him to be. I'm just tired of getting excited about him coming back just to hear that he had a setback or got hurt again. He had two full seasons in 02 and 03 and he had two mostly full seasons in 98 and 01. But he missed the whole 99 season and good chunks of 00, 04 and 05. I've just come to the conclusion that if I have no hopes for him, then he can't let me down.

from stats.com:

Apr 18 Wood worked a 35-pitch bullpen session at Dodger Stadium Monday. Cubs pitching coach Larry Rothschild was impressed with the right-hander's progress and believes Wood will go on a minor league rehab assignment soon, according to the Chicago Tribune. Rothschild was especially happy seeing a good slider from Wood, a key sign he's moving forward in his recovery from shoulder surgery.

Advice: Wood told the newspaper that he has found rehabbing from shoulder surgery is much more difficult physically and mentally than coming back from Tommy John surgery. The rehab process continues Thursday, when Wood will throw a three-inning simulated game against Cubs rookie league players in Arizona

Sweet! Another simulated game!

I'll be there waving my simulated foam finger and ordering simulated hot dogs and Cokes from the beautiful simulated bleachers.
