Or last year when he was with Philly... or in 02 or 03. He has to have faced him at some point in the regular season.

 

Retrosheet lists no matchups between Maddux and Lofton up to 2004, and for 2005, Maddux made no starts in Philly, and when the Phillies were in Chicago, Lofton was on the DL.
