Dusty's love affair with lefty-righty match-ups is Bayloresque in its idiocy. Absolutely no freaking way a lightweight piece of garbage like Perez should be starting at third base when Mabry is available.

 

Dude, we needed his defense in the field.

 

He did makes some very nice plays today @ 3rd, that I'm not sure Mabry would have made.

My biggest problem during the series, wasn't Dusty's "managing", but the lack of hitting. The Reds had---I believe---

9 HOMERUNS

in the series. NINE. I don't care how bad a managing job Dusty performs, the fact is....he's NOT the one who's giving up the homeruns. The Cubs were playing in the same conditions, and yet they only had

TWO HOMERUNS

, against 1 back end of the rotation guy, a AAA pitcher, and a home run giver. That is UNACCEPTABLE. The Cubs need to CUT DOWN on the homeruns, if they are going to have a chance. And after the Reds Series (they are still the BEST 2nd division team in baseball)I think I can truly say, the Cubs absolutely NEED Kerry Wood and Mark Prior back and healthy.

Great weather and great seats (3rd row behind homeplate). On the other hand, I felt like collapsing (have a cold) and the game sucked.

 

Glad I made it home before I died, although it was touch and go there on the el.

Wow after the Cardinals series this one was a real letdown.

 

I thought the game today was pretty important as it would have showed that the Cardinals series was not just some fluke. :cry:
