I read that he was supposed to do some throwing today... anyone know the results of his session?

Yep.

Cubs.com[/url]"]Chicago Cubs pitcher Mark Prior threw 30 pitches off the bullpen mound at Wrigley Field on Tuesday, including some breaking balls at the end, and is making good progress in his rehab from a strained muscle in his right shoulder.

"He's throwing fine," Cubs pitching coach Larry Rothschild said. "It's just building up strength and stamina and his pitches and tiring him out without going overboard with it, and we'll keep progressing from what we did today."

"From the time he started throwing the ball all the way through the mound, you could see there was more quickness to his arm and he looked more comfortable throwing the ball," Rothschild said.

"He's got a few more sides [to do] to build up strength and stamina and work on a few things mechanically and then he should be ready," Rothschild said.

Prior will take two days off, then throw another bullpen session Friday and increase the pitches, and follow that program one more time before he's re-evaluated. The right-hander isn't experiencing any pain in his shoulder since it first sidelined him on March 14.

"Since he's come back, he's been pretty good and it's progressed to the point where he doesn't feel it at all," Rothschild said.

But still no expected return date?

Prior was headed back to Arizona on Tuesday. He appeared in court on Monday to testify against a Naperville, Ill., store that is suing the pitcher for breach of contract from an autograph session two years ago. Prior had appeared at the store on June 3, 2004, but there was a disagreement over how long he was going to stay and the number of items he signed.

It's ok with me. I don't want I date until he is slated to start.

I like the way the Cubs are handling the rehabing pitchers, at least with the media anyway.

yeah i think the cubs are done giving out projected dates. I think all we will get is the dates of his rehab starts and when he is going to be back at MLB

I think this is the best thing the Cubs could do. Don't set a return date because then it puts pressure on the player to come back by then. Or the player may think that they can make it back before the set date and will try harder to do it and end up getting injured. Anyways, I think it's a good idea and I don't mind them doing it.

I couldn't agree more, CubinNY. This is the most responsible way to communicate to the fans what stage a rehabbing player is at.

I think it's great that they aren't giving out a date. I still like to hear updates on his progress, but setting a date only puts undue pressure on everyone.

I think Monty Burns has a better arm than Prior right now. I just want Mark to come back healthy and ready and I'm in no rush for him to come back.

Prior regained most of the pop on his fastball when he started throwing again, which is why it looks like he's not that far behind Wood.

Burns would've gotten booed after throwing out the first pitch.
